Default Barabus TKR takes over as world's fastest car - zero to 60 mph in 1.67 seconds

The Bugatti Veyron is no longer the world's fastest car. Today — following a number of teasers and leaks — Barabus officially unveiled the TKR: a new 1005 horsepower supercar the automaker says is capable of doing zero to 60 mph in 1.67 seconds. What's more, the car reportedly has a top speed of 270 mph — nearly 20 more than the Veyron. Power comes from a 6.0 liter V8 twin-turbocharged with dual intercoolers. Details remain sparse, but the automaker says it will sell the car for £360,000, which should translate to around $500,000, using typical automotive market conversion rates. It's worth noting that Barabus sometimes refers to the car as being able to hit 60 mph in "under 2 seconds," rather than the stated 1.67. Even so, there is still some doubt among enthusiasts if such a figure is even possible. Nonetheless, the car is on display at the 2006 British International Motor Show, and we expect to get more details in the near future. The TKR is said to have been in development for the last 10 years. The car is to be made in Italy and the power plant is built in the United Kingdom. Worldwide volume is projected to be 300-400 cars over the estimated three-year production run. (Note: we apologize for the low-resolution images — Barabus has been very slow to release press material for the car).

Sounds crazy fast, but the low res pics make it look like a kit car.

Holy mother of all god.. That's neck snapping acceleration right there. 270mph to speed?

that's a lot of car for $500k, at least for an exotic. lol.

It does look like a kit car.

If I had a choice between the Bugatti Veyron or this for ~1000 hp, guess what I'd get...

The Bugatti Veyron is £600,000 vs. £360,000 for this one though . . . but I guess the difference is just peanuts for you

That's such an odd-looking rear!

But at those speeds, nobody can even see your rear before you become a dot to them!

im still puzzled as to how they got a 0-60 <2s with >1000bhp.
moreso since they didnt put drivetrain or tranny options on their site. i mean, how wide do the rear tires have to be to make 1001bhp go 0-60 in 1.67s if its ONLY RWD??!!??

keep in mind, teh bugatti is detuned to about ~890hp or something.

TKR was conceived to combine more power than a Formula one racecar with the driving pleasure of a road car. The TKR is designed to compete with the worlds fastest, quickest, and best handling on street or track. Blindly fast!

Fastest, quickest, best handling? Not a doubt. But "most luxurious"? Given the admittedly low-res interior shot, I highly doubt if it can even remotely approach the Bugatti's level of luxuriousness and amenities inside the cabin.

Anyway, can't wait to see the STIG getting his hands on it.
