Are GM's new SUVs losing steam already?
When the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe first debuted over seven months ago, it sat on dealer lots for an average of just seven days before a buyer was found. Now, Tahoes are taking over 62 days to sell, according to data from the Power Information Network and Automotive News. Since January, incentives and bargains have pushed the average price down by $5,000 — from $42,191 to $37,667. Of course, GM is not the only automaker faced with a shrinking demand for SUVs. Over a week ago, Ford reported unexpectedly poor earnings for the second quarter — due mostly to waning demand for SUVs and pickups.

Not surprising....probably to many $$$$$ at the gas pumps, although GM offers an E85 ethanol-certified engine on the large SUV's for those who want it.
Looking beyond the lousy gas mileage, these new SUV's are a mixed blessing.....much better dash and gauges, a little better workmanship overall, slightly improved but still lousy brakes, same old GM cheapness inside apart from the dash and steering wheel.
See my review of the new Tahoe earlier this year:

And we thought GM was in trouble before?
Truck profits is all they had left. And judging from the pics we've seen of the 2008 Chevy/GMC pickups, it could be enough to kill GM once and for all.

GM and Nissan and Ford were hell bend depending on SUVs and Trucks and all 3 are down tons in sales.
I PREFER the previous version, this new one is too slabsided (identical to the Expedition/Explorer) and just doesn't look as tough or rugged as the last one. Its not ugly but not as aggressive to me.
