Default Dream Duo: Mercedes Unviles Its Cabrio and Coup CLK63 AMG

Mercedes is releasing a CLK63 AMG Coupe and Cabriolet in Europe; they'll come to the U.S. during the course of the 2007 model year.

Date posted: 08-04-2006

STUTTGART, Germany — Mercedes-Benz has lifted the curtain on two new entries in the CLK range: the CLK63 AMG Coupe and Cabriolet.

The CLK63 AMG, with its normally aspirated 6.2-liter V8, replaces the CLK55 AMG. The new engine makes 481 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a new AMG Speedshift version of the Mercedes 7G-Tronic 7-speed automatic, with shift paddles mounted on the AMG sport steering wheel.

The CLK63 AMG gets a retuned sport suspension and rides on 18-inch, 5-spoke light-alloy wheels. A new AMG high-performance composite brake system is also fitted.

AMG has revised the CLK's aero body kit, including a new front apron, side air vents and a lip spoiler on the deck lid. The cabin gets new AMG multicontour sport seats trimmed in napa leather.

What this means to you: Look for the latest AMG edition to arrive at U.S. dealers during the 2007 model year.

Hotness

There is something about 6.2L displacement in a V8 that is just so right...

USA only gets cabrio as they said with the last CLK AMG, I think 70 or 80% of the cars sold were converts.

Perhaps thats why their quality isnt the best, i mean its good, but not Lexus good. If they dropped their lineup to the amount as Lexus then maybe they could focus on the reliability more and perhaps make their cars on par with ours
