You have to watch Bulllitt. I mean, the race is the movie!!

The Transporter movies have good race scenes.

Bad Boys one has the Cobra vs the 964 Turbo at the end, great race.

Gone in 60 Seconds

Cannonball Run

Smokey and the Bandit, Trans Am Sales SKYROCKETD b/c of this movie.

Bourne Identity

Mad Max

Blues Brothers, not a car you want to buy but what a race!!!

100% agree on Bullitt, some call that the best of all of them.

Two strange films, but I liked them, Deathrace 2000 and The Wraith.

If you can get a copy of Initial D the movie, that is also pretty good.

actually i think the initial D has some very nice "refreshing" type of races that we haven't seen in american movies

Two of the finest racing movies ever made hold up well many years later. Thin on plot, the driving sequences that comprise the major part of each have never been equaled in capturing the real track experience.

John Frankenheimer’s breakthrough cinematic tour de force, “Grand Prix” (1966) Incredible first-person racing footage is still the best thrill ride in town. As a bonus, you get a tour of the major F1 circuits – before aerodynamics, turbochargers, runoff areas and tire barriers. See some of the most beautiful (and most dangerous) racing venues as they were when most were run on public roads.

Lee Katzin’s answer to the previous release, “Le Mans” (1971), a great bookend piece for sports/racing fans, LM is closer to a racing documentary, without the soap opera subtext of GP. Incredible racing footage is as real as it gets. Steve McQueen, originally tagged for the lead in GP, finally got his chance in LM. Both he and James Garner who took over McQueen's role in GP began very successful amateur racing careers as the result of these movies.
____________________________

Edit - UPDATE: BOTH of these movies have been undergone digital restoration and are now available on DVD. If you like the sound of racing engines, the soundtrack alone should be worth the cost of the disc. If you’ve ever harbored the fantasy of becoming a F1 driver, sit real close to the screen and crank it up. This is as close as you and I are going to get! Rocketing off course, through the hay bales, and into the harbor at Monaco has a quaint charm all its own, but screaming into a right-hand sweeper at Spa in a driving rain at 150+ with visibility limited to about one tenth your stopping distance is, to say the least, an experience.

“Grand Prix” is now available in a double-disc set that includes exhaustive coverage of “the making of . . .“ aspects of the movie.

the one where he races a 3000gt with the skyline? the street race part was pretty nice for its time. the final race on the track it was a bit boring though. i especially hate that they pulled a fast forward speed to make cars look "faster"
