**Need Opinion On Maserati Gransport**
Hi all need some of you guys opinions on Maserati vehicles..
1) How reliable are these cars? The one I am looking at is an 2005 Maserati Gransport (tiptronic version)..
2) What is the usually maintenence cost on these vehicles?
3) If you had an sc430, and if the deal was right would you get the Maserati?
Any feedback on this car is greatly appreciated !!
Here is a link of how the Gransport looks like.. Its not the actual vehicle that I am looking at but this is how it looks

I have an 02 Spyder...
1)Never really broke down or whatever except once the battery drained on its own and maserati towed it to the dealer. The check engine light goes on all the time but its usually like a sensor is messed up or the gas lid wasnt tightened. Although once, the fuel tank valve got stuck 1/2 way. So to fill gas i had to do it at like 2-3 gallons a minute or the fuel spilled out. The part had to be ordered from Italy and it took like 2-3 weeks with my car in the shop.
2) 10,000 mile maintenance was 2000 for like oil, fluids, lube the tranny gears, and a new air filter. Not much else...All i remember is I got two new front tires too and like an alignment and it was like 3000+ tax. The service man hinted if I didnt do it, then Maserati would/could void my warranty for not keeping the upkeep...
3) I dont know the deals you see but I get emails for like 10000 down with like 1500-2000 a month or something rediculous for a 48 month lease...Thats for preferred/repeat customers Lame...

yeah grandsport is definately a special driving experience that should be kept on weekends or special occasions
id keep the SC430 as a beater
i think the new 2006 or 07 model has much better transmission
or is that for the quatraportte only?
just my personal opinion that the grandsport is a more realistic car to buy than an aston martin which may break down more often, although i cant vouch for either of them with my experiences since ive never owned either of them

Thanks for the responses.. The more I look at the car the more i like it....
MDW, how many miles do you have on your spyder? How is the performance and drivability of the car over the long haul?
Thanks!

I have nearly 15000 Miles on it...Got it in early '04 when it had roughly 7-8000 from my dad's partner who got bored of it and wanted a car more friendly for his new baby. So he got a Range and Quatroporte....
Performance is good but for the most part I dont push it too hard around town b/c Im always afraid of tickets...Driving on the local highways I do when I can but its often congested so there isnt much room. However a couple times I punched it while making a turn from a stop trying to be oncoming traffic. So I make the left turn and one time the back end swung around to the right then catches and the end flys to the left while still skidding to the right so I think **** Im hitting the curve but then it caught and I went straight. Second time, the back did the swing right then swing left but this time it SPUN around so I'm now facing possible oncoming traffic. Lluckily, it was red at the time so no one was coming but at the same time it was a red light so everyone waiting at my side of the light is watching me agast.
Drivability...Its one of the reasons my father gave it to me. He'd much rather have the comfort of his cruiser SL500 then the short geared Maserati thats designed for performance not for ergonomics... I drive it every day but I drive a round trip 6-7 miles to the local university to take a train to the hospital.....
Which brings me to my last point... The car is the ULTIMATE sausage magnet... I have yet to meet a girl impressed by my car, especially when in the car. The vanity mirror is small, for sure the top stays up b/c of their hair, and its not the most comfortable. Driving around town I have guys of all ages drooling, giving me thumbs up or positive comments as I drive by. In fact the other day I had some middle aged man approach me as I parked telling me how much he loved my car....
