I am dissapointed in the GS300 mainly b/c I would expect for $43K to have a stronger engine than the following cars:
Accord V6 ($23K)
RAV4
Camry
IS-series
ES-series
Avalon
Maxima
Altima
330i
M35
G35
etc......
I know 245hp is fine especially for most people who don't care about performance. My point is Toyota/Lexus has the 3.5L around and can drop it in a RAV4 etc. so price/cost is not an object.
Now, with the GS350 the car will be on even footing or above the cars listed.

Do you like bigger cars or smaller cars?
If you need to carry normal sized passengers with relative
frequency I would definitely get the GS. Get the 350 if you
can or save a lot of cash with a 300
Just make
sure you test drive and LIKE the GS300 first

Space isn't a concern for me as >90% of the time i'm by myself so I went with an IS350. For your though, I'd wait for the GS350. The engine in the GS300 simply does not do the car justice IMO. I also think that the new 3.5 is not only significanly more powerfull, but I believe it also has better MPG. Don't quote me on that though.
