Very cool - try and get at least a 2004 as the 2002s and 2003s had some issues (ok a lot).
Also on the M5, if it is like the other e39s, there is a clip that prevents the driver's seat from going all the way back. While I'm sure there is a good reason for it, many people have removed this clip (it is on the seat track) and they get an extra inch or two for the legs.

not even the 2004 model 745... my friend bought a used 04 745 with 30K miles and got tired of taking it back to dealer for repairs... he sold it after 6 month...

I can understand not really wanting to buy an "older" car. Just newer technology, and of course a new car feel.

Trust me... The E55 has been at the very top of my "most wanted" list since 2003. After extensive research though, I am finding waaaaay to many issues with them. My chiropracter's partner is going thru litigation with a local dealership for them to buy it back due to at least 10 service issues including the automatic ride height getting stuck on one side!
Plus... The current new-gen E55 with normally aspirated power is real appealing. I figure I'll ride in luxury for a minute and then grab one in a couple of years on trade.

From what I read on mbworld most people that ordered E63 end up cancelling it and keep the 55. The 55 is a touque monster... something 63 is lack of..
