Here's my list in order:

1.) 2007 Lexus GS350 w/ Navigation+Levinson ($50,110)
2.) 2007 Infiniti M35 Sport w/ Advanced Tech package ($50,350)
3.) 2007 Audi A6 3.2 Quattro w/ Premium, Tech and S-Line packages ($56,190)
4.) 2007 Acura RL w/ Tech package ($53,100) - but you can get it for 50k
5.) 2007 BMW 530i w/ Sport package ($53,445) - especially if you like shifting for yourself

I'm pretty sure you can get the A6 S-Line for very close to 50 - especially if the dealer has one sitting around ... they don't sell very well. Great car.

The A6 is my favorite but I think the GS350 and M35 are objective, close ties for "Best for $50k"

2002 Porsche Carrera, tiptronic (cuz you don't want stick)

But if you get a Porsche, you should always get it in stick because those kinda cars are so fun to drive around and also get to shift.

For 50K brand-new, it's gotta be a toss-up between the Lexus GS300AWD and Acura RL.......both superb machines in almost every way. They are both on the list of the 10 best cars I've ever reviewed or test-drove.

Audi also is making some good products for the money if you can stand the grilles.

Yes, BMW has a great chassis / steering and Mercedes has tank-like safety, but both make too many compromises in other areas, such as build quality, awkward controls, expensive dealer service, and arrogant dealer attitudes.

Absolutely.... No manual tranny! :icon22:

And the previous 5 series is to "generic looking" even if the E39 M5 is fast as shiz.

Something about the 745i has just really growned on me. Call it... Age.

No manual? Okay grandpa.

Have you considered an 03+ CL600/S600? If having the newest model design is a concern, then I guess these cars are out (as is the E39 M5), but the twin turbo v12 engines can be upgraded from 493 hp/590 lb ft to 625 hp/745 lb ft with just a chip: http://www.renntechmercedes.com/C215_CL.html The upgrade is $6400 msrp, but imagine the smiles each time you drop the hammer.

All great choices. You could almost purchase two of these with $50k (okay, more like $60k+), and have the ultimate in power, handling, or luxury.
