Even as gas prices rise and truck and SUV sales shrink, Acura is going against conventional wisdom and launching an all-new version of its MDX. Acura figures the luxury midsize SUV category will grow 26 percent in the next five years and aims to be ready with its new truck.
The new MDX has crisper sheetmetal and a more driver-oriented interior. Acura officials said they were going for a sportier looking-and driving-MDX.
That starts with the new 3.7-liter V6 powering the new MDX. Horsepower is up 40 to 300 and the engine produces 275 lb ft of torque, up 25 lb ft. It is mated to a 5-speed sequential gearbox.
Three option packages will be available when the car is on sale in a month or so and can be mixed and matched. The Sport package has active dampers, high-zoot leather and alloy wheels. The Technology package includes DVD Nav system with real-time traffic updates, rearview camera, and automatic climate control. The Entertainment package has a rear-entertainment system, power tailgate and heated second row seats.
Prices aren't set in stone yet, but Acura is figuring on $41,000-$48,000.

Still needs a few more curves on the front end, but I love that interior and that boost in performance is definitely a nice touch. That grill has to go or they have to tone down that chrome. Reminds me of some of the grills of Nissan/Infiniti SUVs.

Horrible looking car IMO. Front end looks like a masculine Escalade that went through the castrate surgery. Rear quarter looks like a B9 Tribeca, which looks good on a minivan/crossover, but horrible on an SUV. That steering wheel makes me puke.
Is it still a SOHC engine? If so, thanks but no thanks.
Just wonder why can't American Honda make decent looking cars like how its Japanese counterpart does.

definitely need to see it in person. but if it's anything like the previous MDX i wont be impressed w/ the finish of the thing.
I do like how's it's got some musculature being emphasized around the fender arches, want to see the rear end as well.

The exterior looks nice, as does the centre stack, but the interior overall is a big dissapointment, due to the plastic on the top of the doors and dashboard. It looks extremely cheap, and the colour scheme doesn't go well together ... black plastic would have looked MUCH better.
Should do well in the market, but I'm still surprised by that interior, and how it looks like one huge mix of expensive, and cheap looking materials. I'll have to see more pics, but definitely not what I was expecting interior-wise.

that's pretty expensive for an Acura. People who like it probably can't afford it. People who can afford it will probably get something else.
It's right between the sporty FX and the luxurious RX. Going to be a hard sell.

The interior is 10 steps better (Is that real wood though?) and 300hp has a nice ring to it, even if its a V-6 in such a large truck.
LMAO, glad your still around dude

41-48k is the same price as it is now, around 40k now is a bare bones MDX
