Personally I don't like the BMW and Mercedes new service intervals based on the car telling you when the oil/filter needs to be changed. Lexus V8's are the cleanest engines and have the least wear of any that have oil analysis done and posted on www.bobistheoilguy.com When these members use a premium synthetic oil like Mobil 1 the oil is pretty close to used up at around 12-13K miles. I have a hard time believing that a BMW or Mercedes engine can go 15K miles between oil changes without some engine damage. Now that damage might not show up until around 150K miles but a BMW/Mercedes engine should be good for 300-400K miles without an oil related problem. JMHO

There are some M-Class owners that have gone over 200,000 miles without any oil problems, or any engine problems for that matter. And we all know how the ML is the worst Mercedes ever made.

Wow, that fast huh? The pedal probably doesn't go down far enough anymore since you're used to flooring it.

Brakes and rotors went out at 15k. Tranny later went out at 25k or so.
Thankfully that's not my car anymore and my sisters.

Lexus has the reliability and interior luxury over the Germans, however it does not have the sporty fun factor, great handling, sports packages and solid feel of a BMW.

The weird thing is that BMW drivers like myself have been accepting of the reliability issues with our vehicles (not so bad), due to we feel that it comes with the territory when you drive such a fun vehicle.

I agree. The thought of going 15K just seems like too much. BMW now will change the oil at the one year mark if you want. I'm going to be around 8K on my car when I hit the one year mark and that's probably what I will do.

I could live with 8K using synthetic oil.

You can't get electrocuted if they don't work..........or can you???

It all depends on the service advisor. I had a good one at Fletcher Jones where he did some fine-combing of known problems in the S-class 1 month before the warranty was going to expire

He replaced/updgrade parts that was going to be costly to repair

Another dealership was horrible. Very unorganized and they didn't seem to care.

I've had wonderful experiences with my lexus ownerships.

I started a thread about a friend's jeep/chrysler experience
