Subaru to scrap unpopular grill design

I think this grille, while ugly in some iterations, could have been quite successful and a good way to set apart Subaru. Like the ill-fated Mitsubishi grille, it could have looked good and DID look good in some iterations, like the Impreza or these vehicles:

Like Mitsubishi, Subaru had a potentially good-looking grille but was just too lazy to design it well. If they did, like these vehicles show, it could have been successful.

I think the Subaru grill is a good concept, as it would give Subaru a house-style (more people would be able to recognize a Subarus if it would continue with the style), but the actual execution was not up to par.
