Default Chrysler Group Reports August 2006 U.S. Sales

* Chrysler 300 Sales Rise 13 Percent Year-Over-Year
* Jeep(R) Compass Continues Arriving at Dealerships to Positive Customer
Reception
* Chrysler Town & Country Sales Improve 9 Percent Over Last Year
* Zero-percent for 72 Months Incentive Program Announced for 2006 Models

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Moving in stride
with overall industry sales trends this month, Chrysler Group reported U.S.
sales for August of 179,165 units, a decrease of 8 percent (4 percent
decrease unadjusted) compared to August 2005 sales of 187,085 units. All
sales are reported on an adjusted basis unless otherwise indicated.

"Our product portfolio transition continues with the successful launch
of the Jeep(R) Compass on the heels of the brisk-selling Dodge Caliber
along with eight additional products this year," said Steven Landry,
Chrysler Group, Vice President - Sales and Field Operations. "Strong
customer demand for the Dodge Caliber and the Jeep Compass has set the
standard for our other vehicle launches."

Chrysler Group saw sales strength in several key products during
August, including the Chrysler 300, Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Charger,
Dodge Caliber and the Jeep Compass.

Strong sales of the Chrysler 300 and Chrysler Town & Country minivan
helped to push the Chrysler brand to sales of 47,132 units, an increase of
3 percent over previous year sales of 44,279 units. The Chrysler 300 posted
sales of 11,703 units, an increase of 13 percent over August 2005 sales of
9,934 units. Sales of the Chrysler Town & Country increased 9 percent to
11,981 units compared to 10,614 units sold in August 2005.

The Jeep brand posted sales of 42,243 units, a slight increase compared
to previous year sales of 40,659 units for the brand. The Jeep Commander
posted sales of 8,012 units, a 1 percent increase over July 2006 sales of
7,363 units. The Jeep Compass is beginning to arrive at Jeep dealers
nationwide and feedback is positive from dealers and customers. Sales of
the Jeep Compass totaled 2,061 units this month despite limited
availability, as dealers are still receiving shipments.

The Dodge brand saw strong sales from several products within its
portfolio during August. Sales of the Dodge Caliber continue to be brisk
with 8,877 units sold this month, an increase of 14 percent over July 2006
sales of 7,187 units. Demand for the Dodge Caliber continues to be strong;
days supply for the vehicle is 23 days. The Dodge Charger posted sales of
10,461 units, an increase of 93 percent compared to August 2005 sales of
5,222 units. The Dodge Dakota posted a sales increase of 4 percent to 8,891
units. Sales of the Dodge Dakota totaled 8,206 units last year.

Beginning today, Chrysler Group announces 0 percent financing for 72
months on nearly all 2006 model year vehicles. Qualifying customers can
choose zero percent financing for up to 72 months or cash back amounts up
to $5,000. The program runs through Oct. 2, 2006. Chrysler 300, Dodge
Magnum and Dodge Charger vehicles are excluded.

"We wanted to address customer concerns about higher interest rates and
fuel prices," said Mike Manley, Chrysler Group, Vice President - Sales
Strategy and Dealer Operations. "This first-time program will allow
consumers to own a new vehicle that fits their budget and reinforces the
value of products we offer to customers."

Chrysler Group finished the month with 502,946 units of inventory, or a
76-day supply.

Unusual silence in a monthly sales thread. Is it sign of everyone getting tired of Toyota breaking sales record every month?

Seriously, the Lexus sales engine is out of control right now. 31k in a month. UNHEARD of. GS sales hit 3k and that is the sedan I worry most about, lol! Good Lord the LS ain't even here yet!! One thing to me, ES sales were only up 4% and this is a new ES 350 vs the last model year 330. Hmmmmmm

BMW down due to inventory it seems, no worry here

Benz having a solid month. Now its their trucks carrying them (Lexus had their trucks carry them the last few years, not sedans)

Acura, lol, the discontinued RSX was the only one with a sales increase.

Infiniti is in WORSE trouble. They are pretty much back to where they started before Ghosen. A new G35 sedan ain't going to save them, its a very competitive segment. The GT-R will be a badged Nissan. Very sad. Down 26% in a month. That has got to have dealers near suicidal.

Toyota, amazingly the old Corolla is UP and the new CIVIC is down! Incredible.
The Accord dropped 28% and it was just revised. The Camry is only up 2% b/c they can't make enough! Fit sales are very good, Scion sales are ridiculous. Accord hyrbid sales, did anyone else see the drop?

Nissan, Versa sales VERy strong, way more than the FIT. Thing is Toyota sold 11,000 Yaris in a month, more than the Fit and Versa x 2. Nissan had at least some more + than last month, Maxima sales up.

Avalon sales down 28%! ES 350 has to be hurting it I would say, especially at the same price.

Infiniti needs to make something happen. I don't know what though. I think their subpar mpg isn't helping any matters.

ES sales are probably capped at that point... same as Camrys...

Honda and BMW dissapoint. How can honda not have enough of their cars, when their home sales dropped 20% for August? Again, that definetly isnt true.

Ford is doings its usual bad... F150 is going to lose at least 100,000 sales compared to last year.

GM is actually doing much better than before, but thats still mediocre.

Why is Toyota doing this good? Because planning and customer needs is what they do the best.

26,000 freakin Toyota hybrids sold this month. Thats almost more than complete BMW group. Who said hybrids are niche? And they would have sold a lot more if they had ability to produce more batteries....

What happens when:
- New LS comes out
- New Tundra comes out Feb 2006
- New Highlander comes out
- New Corolla is out

I will tell you what - Toyota becomes #1 in the World.

The usual pattern: 5 series followed by E class, then GS, M, A6 and RL.

RDX started off with a good 1/2 month. The rather high price might lead to RL type dicounting by next year.

Good to hear about the GS. #3 is a good spot for the GS 300/430.

As for the entry sport luxury:

3-series: 8,800
TL: 6,300
IS-series: 5,500
G35: 4,900
C-class: 4,600

I am curious to theories on why the GS sold 3k last month and the M35/45 almost 1k less. No showroom traffic? It can't be advertising b/c I see way more M35/45 ads than GS ads in print and television. Prestige? Didn't the M beat the GS by a few units a couple months this year (IMO a pretty big accomplishment)?

As nice as the GS is, I think a lot of people I've talked to said they were expecting a better 3rd generation design. My girlfriend loves her 2nd Gen GS300 and said Lexus could have done better on the new design. I agree.
They did away with the signature quad tail lights.

What surprises me is how well the Chrysler 300 is doing. Sales are still very strong which is awesome. PT Cruisers are still selling too....go figure.

5,500+7,900 = 13,400. Tremendously successful. You happy now?

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Audi of America, Inc.
today reported August 2006 sales of 7,115 units, an increase of three
percent compared to year ago sales. Through the first eight months of 2006,
Audi dealers have sold 54,575 vehicles, an increase of 5.4 percent over the

the dealership."

including Miami, Atlanta and Dallas-Fort Worth. For the year, Audi has
reported improved sales in other key markets, including Los Angeles, San
Francisco and Boston.

premium compact; the sporty A4 sedan, Avant and Cabriolet models; the high
performance S4 sedan, Avant and Cabriolet models; the high-revving RS 4
