Its been awhile.....but I turn to CL for help

I would personally just rip it out and put in a Pioneer AVIC-Z1 if it was such a big issue.
A bad nav would certianly not deter me from buying an M5 if I was in the same position that DrRick is.

Also, might wanna check insurance on an M5. I dunno, figure it's worth a check.
I know you like the 4 seater size of the GS, and sure an M5 is fun, but for me I've decided sedans just don't make sense. I really think they still sell out of 'habit' more than anything.
Station wagons may lack style in some cases, but they're a lot more useful than sedans without giving up any capabilities really. And the small and mid-size SUVs are practical and can still be somewhat fun, although neither midsize sedans or wagsons/SUVs can compare in the fun department to just about ANY small car.
You might wanna check out a new VW GTI with DSG - it's incredible, and that hatch is handy and the back seats aren't useless like some smaller vehicles.
On the larger side, maybe check out a Dodge Magnum SRT8 or the Jeep Cherokee SRT8 (holy smokes).
I guess I just also prefer new over used.
Anyway, just my $0.02...

The M5 (last gen) handling is not all that great Hameed - your GS with coilovers will eat it for lunch. The M5 is impressive for a factory setup but still has a lot of lean. I saw one autocross and it was pretty weak.
I'd prefer an M3 to an M5.
Definitely a good idea. I was just mentioned the bad BMW one cuz it's not a valuable feature as far as purchasing decision.

I agree with you 100% on the sedan disadvantages.
In my case, I feel the GS (or M5) is the perfect "sporty" car for me simply because my kids would not fit comfortably in a Miata or other "real" sports car.
I am not a fan of huge wagons like the Dodge Magnum SRT8 or the Jeep Cherokee SRT8. Each to his own however.
I like the practicality aspect of wagons and would rather have a secondary more practical car (like my beater car - Dodge Neon that has folding rear seats allowing me to transport long objects - 75 inches in length). However for my fun car - the GS fits the bill perfectly!

gs with coilovers? no way. gs with coilovers and sways can take 540i/s, but m5 is totally different. having lean doesn't mean it has bad handling though, i am sure the m5 stock can still hand a gs with coilover a good run, the car is still much more balanced than my heavily modded gs
the rear of my gs would still have spun out sooner than the m5 would

That's a decent price. I've been looking a little myself jsut to see what the market is on it.
