Default Its been awhile.....but I turn to CL for help

i guess im considered an OG. member since fall of 01. i dont post too much since i no longer have the Grinch, but im still here. hell, CL still has homepage status. ok, so its about time for me to get a new car. the G35 coupe has been great. considering i got one of the very 1st ones, i consider myself blessed to have had no significant issues. other than a $2500 radio replacement (and you know i didnt go back to factory). anywho, its that time again. i have resigned myself not to go ***** out and limit my budget to $45k. so whats good? i am thinking about an M3, 04 or 05 if i could get lucky. the IS350 is absolutely stunning to me, but i am seeing alot of them on the road. not that that really matters but, everyone likes some sort of exclusivity. so tell me what you guys think. regardless, this car will not be a daily driver. but i do want something that is fun and reliable. and i know that those 2 words can be mutually exclusive.....

Sounds like bimmer fever bug got you too. You shouldn't have any troubles on getting a 04 or 05 with very little miles for that much. Around where i'm at they are selling a bunch of 03s and 04 M3 with 30 to 35k miles for $33k to $35k.

Honestly I would wait for the new G35 coupe.............If it looks anything like the concept car, its goin to be HOTTTTT. Based on the G35 sedan reviews, it will have amazing performance.

Otherwise, maybe look for a used 911 or NSX.
The M3 is cool but its far from exclusive and the used ones tend to be driven very hard by the previous owners. BTW the e46 M3 is one of my favorite cars, u cant wrong with it in terms of styling and performance, reliability is the question though. IMO it looks a million times better than the new e92 coupe which ive seen in person several times.

95 Civic Del Sol with s2000 swap pushing over 600whp, lol!

I say it depends on what you want, a coupe or a sedan. Since its not a DD, I'm guessing a coupe. With that guess I'd get a NSX a do some tastefully mods or if you wont something newer then I'd get a C5 ZO6. My friend just bought one with 37k miles for $32k with a longtime warrenty and maintance package.

I'd try for the Del Sol first though.

What's the new M Roadster go for these days? It's got a polarizing design (that's my polite way of saying I think it's ugly), but is quite a performer. You won't see them all over the road, that's for sure!

hei it's the doc! wb.

How much is the new M3 goin for nowadays? if it is round 45-55 no other car can give you that "feel" of a bimmer... the ultimate driving machine. I really like the new look of the 3 esp the coupe. I even like it more than the 5. Over here, the 3 is about as common as the IS250.. so their exclusiveness is about on par. By the time you get the new 3, i'm sure there will no longer be any of those first model bugs... so.. it's really up to the individual. I'd say go for it doc.. you've always had good taste in cars and if this is what caught your eye.. then you must make the move.

Can't go wrong with a M3, not entirely sure of the reliable part though.
Used 911? Lotus Elise? Used NSX?

Great choice on the CTS-V! This thing is insanely fast and has a great suspension and handles very well. I still remember watching the TopGear episode where it competed against an AWD Audi A8 and and A8 could not keep up with it even in the corners and with AWD to boot!!!

It's not the typical American drag car that can't go around bends.

If its your fun/weekend car, why get a sedan?

How about a Supra and go single? 1JZ SC 300....

Audi S4? (There goes another 4 door).....
