Between the GX, LX, LC and Sequoia, Toyota has me absolutely confused on what the hell all these models are about.
Between Lexus and Toyota we have Rav4, Highlander, 4Runner, Sequoia, Land Cruiser, Tacoma, Tundra, RX, GX, LX (some are crossovers) as SUV's/trucks. That's a whopping 10 models. HALP!

How can LC be confusing, it is 55 year old model.

i noticed in the past couple of hours, toyota has been slowly updating the website. some pages are now showing 08, some still 07...
it's kinda funny how the photo gallery works.... main page shows 07 thumbnails. enlarged pics are the 08's.

I didn't - they were incredibly "wordy". The bits that stood out were the emphasis on reliability and the very poor warranty of 36 months/36,000 miles. I don't understand that - even my old MINI had a 36 month/90,000 mile warranty.

That's standard for Toyota's right ? Get the new Lexus LX570 if you want longer warranty, & much nicer(IMO) interior
The new Land Cruiser is expensive already, if it was me looking for this kind of trucks, I might as well go for the Lexus version.

Speaking of GS460, I gotta say its a pretty sad day when the Land Cruiser has more horsepower than Lexus' own V8 powered sports sedan, the GS460...
I know, GS will of course be faster, but I still thought I'd never see that day...

p.s. nobody noticed how CRAZY the CRAWL is... when GX was launched, it was first car that can go downhil at 8kmh (Land Rovers did 12kmh at the time, big diff), now new LC has 1-5kmh control - this is first in the world, and nobody else has electronic systems that can work at that speed (usually they get disabled below 6-8kmh).
And Euro version gets 290hp diesel with 480ft of torque... no diesels in Toyotas :-)

I saw somewhere that the JDM version gets an improved 4.7L V8, 53hp increase. Not sure if that would make it 280hp or 300+hp, as the USDM models were more powerful IIRC.
I'm guessing most of these land cruisers will be sold in the middle east, the are pretty popular over there. One can imagine how expensive the LX is going to be if the LC costs this much.
Anybody willing to speculate as to why the 5.7 does not have D4-S direct injection?

Why would the 5.7L have D4-S? Toyota is trying to market D4-S as a "Lexus only" feature, and I'm not sure how well a D4-S engine would perform in extreme conditions like when travelling through deep water or operating in extremely dusty environments. Cost is also another reason. Besides, the 3UR-FE has more than enough power for the LC.
Also, nobody mentioned but compared with the 07 LC, this new 08 LC actually has improved fuel economy, despite the fact that the new LC is tested under the revised 2008 EPA standards, and also the 08 being much more powerful than the 07 LC.
I did. That air conditioning and heating system sounds really heavy duty. Overall, sounds like Toyota put a ton of effort into ensuring the quality, reliability, durability, and comfort for the new LC would be top notch.
I think Lexus might raise the base LS price.

The KDSS is such a significant new feature that Lexus would have to be really stupid to not mention it in the LX570's debut PR if it were there. BUT since it was not mentioned in the PR, we can be practically certain that the LX570 does NOT have KDSS.

I think this may answer it:

Don't forget that the LX 570 has a pretty trick air suspension with diagonally linked shock absorbers. Maybe KDSS simply is not compatible with the diagonally linked suspension of the LX. I think the reason could be that the trick air suspension on the LX allows for a level of comfort and luxury not possible with the KDSS, yet still giving the LX great off-roading abilities.
That is my guess anyways.
