Why would the 5.7L have D4-S? Toyota is trying to market D4-S as a "Lexus only" feature, and I'm not sure how well a D4-S engine would perform in extreme conditions like when travelling through deep water or operating in extremely dusty environments. Cost is also another reason. Besides, the 3UR-FE has more than enough power for the LC.
Also, nobody mentioned but compared with the 07 LC, this new 08 LC actually has improved fuel economy, despite the fact that the new LC is tested under the revised 2008 EPA standards, and also the 08 being much more powerful than the 07 LC.
I'm willing to assume that they didn't put it so that later on they could adapt their valvematic technology...... Would be great if the could adapt a head to fit both valvematic and D4-S

Uhhhh, to Improve fuel economy maybe? Not looking for more power here, it has enough. I asked, because apparently, the LX wont have D4-S either.

what's with the stupid V8 badge on the rear. And those interior door handles I hope aren't anywhere near as flimsy as the Tundra's.

The old one was 55-56K to start. If you think the updates are worth a 7-8K over the older model, thats fine. But IMO 60k+ for a Toyota SUV (or any Toyota product for that matter) is quite ridiculous if you ask me.

The above pictures actually look great IMO. Could certainly be bolder, better, more interesting, but considering Land Cruiser history and purpose, I think they have done a good enough job.
Moreover, I know that some of you disagree but I think that interior looks wonderful. Ergonomically simple and straight forward, visually pleasing and up to date looking, and moreover, I love the colors. The tan leather, dark wood, and black dash looks very handsome and upscale to me. Price hike seems worth it, IMO, considering that it has as much wood and leather as the old LX, and the power boost and new features.
Also, I looked on the website and there is a small bit of optional body cladding, which IMO, looks like it might sharpen up the side flanks.
