So what the heck was this topic about anyway? Oh yea, the BMW 335 Anyway, I'm glad the 335 and even the 328 is out. I actually might try and get a 328 Coupe myself. I know my wife probably would rather have the sedan, and I personally would rather have the 335 Coupe, but I think the 328 is a very good alternative. The coupe comes with a couple of stuff standard that are options on the sedan, so after pricing them out equally I found the coupe was only a little over a $1000 more than the sedan. After I sell the RX330 I'm thinking of either getting the 328 Coupe or IS350. Option out they way I'd want the BMW is only about $1500 more. If I went with the sedan it would be nearly equal in price give or take a few hundred.

RDX is turbo, its going to make the mileage and power of a larger V6 without the larger physical size and weight of the engine and a chassis to support it, just like this 335 is going to make the mileage and power of a V8 despite being a i6, turbo is the only way to get more power without stuffing a larger heavier engine which will affect handlin which was the primary reasons for both companies to do this to these two cars

I have to tell you, I've been thinking almost the same thing. I love my 550 and plan on keeping it - but to have a fun go kart (like the 3-series) as a 3rd car would just be icing on the cake. I think a 328 properly equipped (sport, cold weather, bluetooth/BMW assist ONLY) and you are at $38,495. Ok, it is still kind of spendy but would be so much fun.
I think for the weekend fun car, 335 would be nicer. You can do ED, and I know a lot of people are getting only 800$ over invoice ED price for 335i.
but btw 328 and IS350, I'd take IS350 anyday. But 335i is a different story. I am kinda stuck with my IS350 for a while. haha

PS - ED is not for me. European drivers are crazy fast (they are excellent drivers however) - the last thing I need to be doing is bitting my finger nails every day I drive and park the car

Yes and here is why.
I thought the 330i was more fun than the 550. It did not have the power, but it had that go kart like handling. Whereas I LOVE the active steering in my 550, I saw no need for it in the 330 - the steering was just perfect. I felt like the car wrapped around me and I could do anything.
In the end I went with the bigger car because of the two kids and the fear of getting tired of rowing the gears everyday (wanted the manual in the 3, but feel a 5 is too big for one). My friends (who claim to know me well) told me that while the 330 seems like total fun, it is work and I would get tired of that work after a while.
To be honest, if I had to do it over again and the 335 was out, I might not make the same decision (since rumor has it the 335 with auto is just as quick as the manual). But everytime my kids get into my car and start kicking the front seats, I'm reminded of how much that extra room means to me.
Now stop making me question my decision....

Sedan pulls 4.8s to 60mph, and 13.5@106mph in the 1/4. Pretty much the same as the coupe pulled with C/D (coupe was AT, got 4.9/13.6).

BMW 335i motors overheating issues
I am not sure this issue has been posted here but here it is.
I am seriously itching for twin turbos E90, but this scares me a little.

on the side notes : C&D's monkeys managed to pull 0-60mph in astonishing 4.8seconds.

But I am not very impressed wtih the 1/4mile time, and that would explain their low high end tq on the motor.
But they have been having overheating issues. too bad.

The more I read these stupid press, the more I want to trade my car in for E90.

That said, the car does run hot. In all my test drives it sat consistently @ 240F oil temp; however the manual states normal operating temp is 200f-340f.
So ya, I wouldn't jump the gun on "overheating" issues, until we hear about more than one case.

After following that topic and the various spin offs on the BMW forums it doesn't seem to be a problem. The problem he had is probably isolated. Even at the oil temps he was reporting it was within the specified opporating temps. Either way, it is something to look out for and follow, but probably nothing widespread.
