300zx and supra TT has handling issues... ( don't get me wrong, I love them since I had them before)
Then it is hard to increase HP on NSX...
Rx-7 has reliability issue... then there is 3000Gt VR4, it is hell of a performance car only when everything is in good working order, and it is a bit too heavy...
MR2?? it is never a Japanese super car, but a fun and affordable mid-engine car...
GTR will be the top choice, easilymodified, come out of factory for more than 300Hp ( even Nissan never offically stated ), 4wd and 4 wheel steering, light weight and bullet proof ( just has little over heat problem ) It is unbeatable king of the road. however, R33 is the worst of the three gen, they are the heaviest, looks worst and slowest of all. R34 and Spec V did not come out after 2000, so for mid 90 super car from japan, R32 will be the best choice for a all around car...
Just my 0.02 cents.

From what it's offered in the poll I would say 3000GT. Techno tour de force of its time. It sold more and lasted longer than others in every market on the planet I guess. Great four seasons GT sports car.
But if there was NSX on the list I would say that was and is the greatest sports car to ever come out of Japan.

Guess it depends how you define " supercar ". You guys are correct that the NSX has a much lighter driving feel than the 3000GTVR4...both from the aluminum structure itself and having the engine back behind the driver. As with any car with the center-of-gravity back behind the driver, though, don't overdo it with sudden steering yanks.

Overall, the NSX is head and shoulders above the other cars on the list. It was on another level... But I never loved it. It was almost too refined - too good at everything (but not really great at anything) so I felt that it lacked personality... the 300ZX was a fantastic car, still is, and it had great balance. The 3000 Mitsu was too heavy and it felt even heavier than it was... I love the RX7's - but did they ever run correctly for more than 15 days in a row?? Overall, if I can have just one - give me the Supra. It's the Japanese musclecar of the bunch.
