TheGMSource.com resident designer and talented Chris Pauwels has seemingly done it again. Coming through with his idea of what the Impala's move to the new global, rear-wheel drive architecture may bring to North American roads.
As evident by rumors on the Internet and words from G.M. executives themselves we expect the Impala to be very similar in style to the 1967 model. Pauwels has produced what we believe is a very accurate rendition a "modern interpretation on a retro design" ala Camaro. Some of you may be quick to point out the similarities up front with the grille being similar to that of the Camaro concept. Sources have indicated that this is very likely to be the styling used on the Impala as well as its two door brother, the Camaro.
Like the '67 Camaro, the '67 Impala also had headlights within the grille structure which was a common styling theme amongst both vehicles. We expect the same for the Impala.
Out back on Chris's rendition you will notice three taillamps stacked next to each other, again similar to the 1967 Impala. One will also point out the high belt-line and low roofline. Obviously because this is a rendering, we don't expect the styling to resemble this severe of an actual production version, but was merely displayed to show emphasis on the rumored idea of a higher belt-line, lower roof-line.
