If I were so lucky I'd choose the E63 myself, but like 1Sick said, I'd be happy with either. As rominl said, given the choice between the same car making the same HP with forced induction or NA, I'd choose the NA. Unless you are planning on chipping it

I've never driven the E63 but we do own an S55 (same engine as the E55) and it is indeed a very powerfull engine and has abundant low end torque. Don't make your decision on which one you think will last longer. The E55 motor is bulletproof despite it being supercharged. I would strongly suggest you drive an E55 and compare yourself. From what i've heard, the E63 motor is a lot smoother and quieter. I can definatly tell you that our S55 has vibrations in the cabin and steering wheel at idle which I'm not too fond off in such a high end luxury car. However it does have a very nice exhasut note which I do enjoy. If I had to make the decision, I would have to drive both first.

Both are great cars, but the E63 gets my vote.

Any reason your not getting the CLS63????.......IMO it looks much better and is def not as common as the E class.

I prefer the "old" look of the E55 and I like the motor better too. You can't go wrong no matter what you choose.

I have RennTech chipped, throttle bodied, pullied, air boxed and headered my Sl 55. Prior to doing this I had the dealer confirm in writing that the warranty would not be voided.

Actually, it's VERY easy to detect when a chip is swapped out or an aftermarket program is uploaded to the ECU.

All the dealer has to do is run an electronic diagnostic scan and they will immediately know.

That said, unless there was damage related to the tuning of the chip itself, the warranty would still be intact.

This is no brainer.

E55 is the way to go.

W211 is only good for straightline fun. Going NA killed the only thing that W211 has going for it.

E55 engine is very bullet proof and has great potential for tuning. The only known issue which I have experienced was the Supercharger clutch failure.

Other than that, I have K2 from Kleeman for about 6 months now. So far so good.

E63 simply can't be tuned that easily.

Thanks guys for your responses.. So far its been discouraging to hear about the 63. I am kind of glad I am hearing this BEFORE I sign papers..

I thought about the CLS55, but from what I hear from people its hard to see when driving, many blind spots.. Though I might have to test drive that for myself..

My way of driving is = I WANT GOBS OF LOW END TORQUE.

So I am really in a dilimema, my salesman called me up and said the car is arriving end of month then I told him "I am having seconds thoughts on a 63"
He said overall its a better car, though the THOUGHT of the 55 being faster is FOR ME a big deterrant.

RAMON, yeah I have been having a tough time trying to find an E55 to drive. What year is your 55 and how many miles? thanks

CHIAWEI, I am glad you have the e55 so you can give direct accounts on how you like it. What year and how many miles do you have on your car? When your clutch failed how much was the repair, still under warranty I guess?

I have similar issue with my E55, the dealer replace the whole supercharger under warrenty.
