What's with Tom's, TRD...aren't there a couple factory based options in Japan already recognized by Toyota? L-Tuned has to re-surface through their past dive. We may welcome them but the skeptical side wonders will they hang. Newbie Lexus owners may feel better even with long term names like TRD behind some of the packaging. (Well, that has some dark periods too but they are still in existence.)
I think bringing in RMM for the Lexus tuner market makes sense from my outsider point of view. Good racing background, known tuner...integrate their design-performance appeal and GO! It has a US flavor too. (Saleen style)

about toms, i guess they help toyota a lot in the racing scene in japan, but not sure if toyota would have full association with them? maybe future amg stories but we have to see...

I'd want them to offer the upgrades right from the factory. It's an significant, unneeded expense having to swap out existing OEM parts for the parts you really wanted in the first place. For example, why not offer a real sport suspension or engine upgrades right from the factory?

There are transplanted/licensed JDM companies offering goodies here. As far as go-fast goodies, that market segment has been left open for quite a while, speaking of Lexus.
I'm sure Toyota is aware...the VIP scene in Japan and the demographics here aren't just the 50+ crowd. Wide open market to tap...it's been demonstrated that there is a waiting market for Lexus tuning.
This reminds me when Jackson Racing (Honda) first came on the scene in the 80's. Toyota's approach though conservative, has been a long wait.

Yeah, unfortunately. Well, there are some companies that will offer special parts installed from the factory, ala carte, in place of the stock fare. Like brake packages, special suspensions, or performance wheel/tire options. But they're few and far between.

who's laughing now?
Last month I created a poll in the 2IS forums asking if people thought Lexus\Toyota would develop-release more aftermarket parts for Lexus vehicles, Hinting at the return of L-Tune. And as it so happens, the members of this forum seem to have supreme knowledge of all that is vehicular..flamed me for creating a pointless poll. I would love to revive that poll now...and see the same flamers (pun intended) respond positively. So who's laughing now you jerks?..J/k

I hope there is serious consideration going on within Toyota about this. The coming V8 IS I believe hints at the direction Toyota is considering. Plus, seeing as Lexus is now all about being a global brand, and seeing that in Japan you can already purchase factory-tuned and supercharged Lexus cars from TOMS, this makes sense.
