2008 Acura/Honda NSX II

They're not making the HSC, at least as the NSX replacement. I think they should make the HSC as a Cayman fighter and make the NSX more upscale to compete with F430 etc. Honda prez promised a V-10 in next NSX. Rumors are strong that it will be front engine and rear drive. I hope that's false. As a current NSX owner, I hope they keep the same theme for the next car (mid engine etc). I just wish they would do SOMETHING!!!! Honda is a great car company and the way they have handled this replacement, and the way they let the current NSX stagnate over the years is disappointing. At least Lexus showed the LF-A and will bring it to market. I hope Honda will follow and get its act together.

Doc,
How has your NSX held up throughout the years? I am seriously considering getting a used one as my next car. Are there any good NSX forums around?

The HSC was supposed to be the NSX replacement and was shown as a concept a few years ago. It was still mid engined RWD with a 3.5 liter v-6 engine putting out around 300hp. There were alot of complaints from enthusiasts that the car would need alot more horsepower and something larger then a v-6 to compete with todays high end sports cars and many did not feel it looked good enough for a NSX replacement so Honda decided to scrap that design.
I read somewhere that the HSC that was tested at Honda and was putting out over 350hp and did 0-60 under 4.4 seconds so it actually would have been putting out decent numbers but Honda decided to do a different approach.
What we know is that the new NSX will have a v-10 from a high source at Honda which would mean it will have much more horsepower than 300-350.
Some people and magazines are saying the new NSX may be front engined with possibly AWD but I do not believe anyone from Honda has given information that this will be true and it seems to be pure speculation. I think some people may be mistaking a different car that Acura is reported to be working on which is a higher end car then the RL but below the NSX priced around 55-60K. Some have said it is a front engine coupe that will be built on its own RWD platform and showcase a v-8 that Honda will put in a sedan above the RL also and possibly in the next RL. The new coupe will most likely feature SH-AWD too and may possibly get a detuned version of the NSX's v-10 or a powerful hybrid in a high end model. It would compete with the Lexus SC, possible Infiniti v-8 M coupe, Merc SL, BMW 6 series, etc. There is a possibility people are getting this project confused with the next NSX which I believe and hope will remain mid engined rwd. Honda is also reported to be working on a RL coupe that will probrably be a little more performance oriented then the sedan and priced similiar to the RL sedan.
