Mercedes-Benz Records Third-Highest Sales Month in Its 42 Year History in the U.S.

MBUSA Sales Up 20.8 Percent for the Month; 13.9 Percent for the
Year-to-Date

MONTVALE, N.J., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- If record-breaking sales are any
indication, some people just may be finding stars under their trees this
holiday season ... Mercedes-Benz stars, that is. In November, Mercedes-Benz
USA achieved its third-highest sales month in its 42 years of doing
business in the U.S. with 22,079 units sold for the month, a 20.8 percent
increase over last November's 18,284 units. This marks the 10th consecutive
month that MBUSA has posted record-breaking sales and the company's best
November on record.
This brings MBUSA's year-to-date sales to 219,678 units, a 13.9 percent
increase over the same period last year, and keeping Mercedes-Benz on track
for accomplishing its 13th consecutive year of sales growth come the
ringing in of the new year.
One hot ticket item on people's wish lists this year -- high-end
luxury. All 20 of the Signature Edition CL600 luxury coupe offered
exclusively through Saks Fifth Avenue's annual "The Gift" holiday catalog
sold at $160,000 each in less than eight minutes on November 14. Sales of
the newest generation S-Class were nearly double this month over last
November (2,780 vs. 1,400), boosting sales for the high-end vehicles as a
group by 57.7 percent for the month (3,627 vs. 2,300) and 51.8 percent for
the year-to-date (36,787 vs. 24,230).
Not to be outdone, the E-Class also demonstrated impressive gains with
a 26.6 percent increase over last November, coming out on top as the volume
leader for the month with 4,918 units sold for the month. Sales of
Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, as a whole, grew 9.6 percent for the month
(15,301 vs. 13,967).
Additionally, contrary to industry trends, Mercedes-Benz vehicles in
the luxury light truck segment -- ML-Class, R-Class, GL-Class and G-Class
-- continued to demonstrate impressive gains with a combined 57 percent
increase over last November (6,778 vs. 4,317) and an 81 percent increase
over year-to-date 2005 (60,373 vs. 33,360). The ML-Class rose 6.8 percent;
the R- Class gained 5.1 percent; and the popularity of the GL-Class, the
newest member of the Mercedes-Benz family of SUVs, contributed to the
growth as well.
Separately, through the Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned program,
MBUSA sold 3,741 vehicles in November, an increase of 20.9 percent over
last November, bringing the year-to-date total to 43,363 units, a 7.3
percent increase over the same period in 2005.
In 2005, MBUSA achieved its twelfth consecutive year of sales growth by
setting the highest sales volume in its history with 224,421 new vehicle
sales. Headquartered in Montvale, N.J., MBUSA is responsible for the sales,
marketing and service of all Mercedes-Benz products in the United States.

Whoa, seems like the GS sales keep dropping, despite the engine upgrade. And the IS sales are dropping, and the new LS isn't selling that well either, just over 3000 sold. Seems like Lexus is failing, and better start doing something about it.

Default Porsche Reports November Results

ATLANTA--Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars and Cayenne SUVs in the United States and Canada, today announced sales for the month of November in the U.S. that were essentially on par with last year’s record-setting November results. With the month's sales, Porsche's eleven-month total is on pace for a record 2006.

For November 2006, Porsche reported new-car sales in the U.S. of 2,611, just 2.0 percent behind 2005’s best-ever November of 2,675. So far in 2006, Porsche remains well ahead of 2005's record total with year-to-date sales of 31,377, an 8 percent increase over 2005’s eleven-month total of 29,072.

"With November's results basically on track with last year's strong month, we are on pace to establish another calendar year sales record in the U.S.," said Peter Schwarzenbauer, President and CEO, Porsche Cars North America, Inc.
As it has all year, Porsche's 911 model line continues to help drive Porsche’s sales in the U.S. In November, sales of the 911 were up 12 percent from the same month last year with totals of 1,061 versus 951 in 2005.

For the year, 911 sales are 10,920, an increase of 19 percent from 2005's eleven-month total. The Boxster/Cayman series recorded combined sales of 786 for November versus 419 last year, representing an 88 percent increase. Year-to-date, the Boxster/Cayman sales are 10,744 compared to 7,402 in 2005, a percentage increase of 45 percent.

In addition, dealers sold 485 Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicles in November.

Are you sure about it, or you just being sarcastic

LS not selling well? I guess you're right, it's only the segment leader in sales for the month of November, and it just came out a month ago.

It's nothing spectacular. Barely ahead of the S class, and it's the first month it's selling, so the sales will drop. The first gen LS used to have double the sales of its competition.

You're using flawed logic. First off, S Class sales are about 2700 for November. LS sales are about 3600. Percentage-wise, that's about 33% more LSs sold than the S Class. Want to compare to the rest of the competition? The A8 had non-existent sales of 362 units. Lexus sold about 10 times as many LS models as Audi sold A8 models. BMW numbers we are still waiting on, but the LS will likely be more than triple that of 7 Series sales.

Would you like to see the non-existent sales of the Jaguar Super 8 as well?

The first gen LS also cost half that of the S Class and 7 Series at the time.

And why should the LS drop in sales? There is still huge demand for it, and the LS600h comes out in just a few months, further bolstering sales and image for the new LS.

So 7 Series is down 25%, and the LS roughly sold 3 times the number 7 Series.

Forget Jag, forget Audi, everyone knows they aren't selling, thats why they are in trouble.

As far as the LS goes, I was expecting 5,000+ sales. Given that the first month sales are usually very high, in a few months the sales will drop. This is very disappointing, as the car is much cheaper than 7 series and S class, and should've been outselling them by greater margin.

And look at the IS, it's sales are dropping fast, it's loosing out even to the aged C class. And with the new C class and G35 on their way, it will surely sink even more.

And the GS? Truly pathetic. Look, the aging E-class almost tripples it in sales, and so does the 5 series. And that's considering the the GS just had an engine upgrade.

The ES and RX models seem to be keeping Lexus afloat, but they aren't really Lexus, they are both Camry based so they don't really count as premium vehicles in my book.

I really hope Lexus can do something to reverse this, and not something lame like introducing a Corolla based model below the ES, so that it could keep them being a sales leader.

Sorry, but expecting 5000 plus monthly sales for a car as expensive as the LS and in this market segment is foolish.

LS is doing much better than expected in Japan, and right now it's actually supply limited.

IS sales drop for a month or so and everyone goes bonkers. Give me a break. Nobody seems to have the same enthusiasm when BMW 3 Series sales drop for a few months.

The IS will be getting more variations so it makes sense that it's sales will remain solid.

The E Class and 5 Series are both very competitive, much more than the GS. The GS430 is seriously hurting the image of the GS right now. A new engine is needed quickly.

Historically, the E Class and 5 Series have been very strong models for the Germans. For Lexus, the GS is one of it's weaker models. Lexus has always had the LS as it's strongest model. Mercedes it's a toss-up between the E Class and S Class, as the S Class reputation has dropped in recent years. BMW, it's easily the 3 Series in terms of their strongest model, with the 5 Series being second. And by strongest, I mean in terms of competitiveness.

Lame? Oh, you mean like selling A Classes and 1 Series vehicles with 4 cylinder engines in Europe? Or maybe bringing the 1 Series, B Class, and A3 over to America?

Lexus at least is moving upmarket with the ES and RX. They are moving upmarket with all their vehicles, and the coming Lexus supercar will do wonders for the worldwide rep and image of Lexus.

You should replace Kramer. You are a lot funnier than he is.

lol... Lexus up, BMW down (for past 3-4 months)... If Lexus is failing, then BMW will close the shop soon...

5,000 sales of LS? How do you think that works really? Someone shakes the magic tree, and LS460's come down?

With demand everywhere being up, 3,600 in November is pretty darn nice... Not only that, but owner reports are pretty encouraging...
