I wonder what the average incentive for a Lexus is. I suppose those $750 coupons from Taste of Lexus count, but that is a special event thing. Obviously it's not as high as BMW or as low as Scion...

Well as new as the 335i may be, they've got some really tempting lease deals going on right now. I still have 10-11 months left on my A4 lease though or I'd be all over it.
The sounds of this article would have me believing the deals won't be around by the time I'm able to lease again. I think they will be, but if they aren't, well, that sucks, but I'm sure there will be other deals - even if they aren't on that sweet sweet twin turbo I6.

They are offering some pretty crazy lease deals up here too; 325i's and 530i's are a total steal. Thing is cars like the 325, 330, 525, and 530 are all being replaced, so it isn't surprising to me that they are trying to move them.
As for the 335i, you may not get much off MSRP, but they still have a good money factor and the residual is stupid high, so you can get good monthlies.

I've seen the new 5-series and examined them thoroughly inside and out....and will look at some more at the D.C. Auto Show next month. It isn't just the looks about this car that turns me off.....it just doesn't seem as solidly built as the old 5-series either. The doors on the new one, for example, feel like tin compared to the old one.
BUT............you have a point. I have only looked at the new 5-series in showrooms and dealer lots. I haven't actually actually DRIVEN one, though I have driven and reviewed the new smaller 325i.
Perhaps you have just talked me into a formal review. Despite my negative first impressions, I'll try to do one with an open mind. Which model do you have...a new 545?

Do check out a 2007 550. I would argue that the doors close with as much if not more authority than the older E39.
Make sure drive one with the sport package as that includes the Comfort Seats (not sure what they renamed them but they are darn yummy).

I wouldn't be surprised if sales of the 7-series take a hit as the newer S550 and LS 460 wrest some conquest sales away from that vehicle. The 7-series has perenially been the #3 player in the US flagship market, and as the article suggests right now is coming with heavy incentives.
All waiting for the forthcoming next-gen 7-series it seems.

Also hate to tell ya, but the average 7 series goes out the door for about $85K and while I'm sure that the previous LS and 7 were occasionally cross shopped, we are dealing with two cars that tended to be about $20K apart and in my mind (and a LOT of buyers minds) that puts the two cars in two different leagues.
So I would have put the 7, S and A8 in the same league, but not the LS. The new one does in fact change the game and put them closer in price/league/size.
Alas.. the article talks about incentives per car and mentions nothing about 7-series incentives. To be honest, I'm not sure there were any in October (but as pointed out there were plenty on the 06 3-series and 525/530 5-series).

What I'm talking about is that in the flagship luxury sedan market in the US, in terms of sales figures, the 7-series has been #3 in overall sales behind the S-class and LS. This has been the trend for many years now (this year a bit different as a new S-class was out, and the LS 430 was in its last year). Getting to #3 is pretty good because with the last 7-series sales have gone up significantly, IIRC.
We'll see what happens with the new LS 460 in sales as its price has gone up significantly, particularly for the LS 460 L and (I'm guessing) LS 600h L. Cross-shopping IMO is sure to have occurred between both the LS, S-class, and 7-series, although perhaps more for some and not others, and also additional vehicles besides those.
Certainly no incentives now for the new LS!
