You may have done this already, but if you haven't you might want to spend some time on nsxprime. There is a wealth of knowledge there including some good wiki's on what to look for when purchasing.

I would seriously go over that NSX with a fine tooth comb. Normally, a 91 in good condition with 65K miles on it would go for $28K-$32K bone stock.

$18K for a 81 with 65K miles on it throws up red flags with me. It could be the deal of the century, but more than likely something is up. I just bought my 2nd NSX, a 92 with 47K miles on it for $32K. People might say I over paid, but this is my 2nd one and I know exactly what I was getting into.

NSX supply is limited and when you see one you want, you have to jump on it right away or someone else will. Don't let a few hundred/thousand dollars stand between you and your happiness if it's the car that you really want because it will take a long long time to find another one that you want.
