Ford/Lincoln and Chebby/GMC have been doing the "shared" body panels/platforms for much longer than the Japanese have. It's just simple economics.
BTW, My wife also likes the new Altima coupe and wants me to trade in the Accord into one. I just reminded her of the bad experience we had with the Titan and she quit looking at the Nissans.

because of the problems of one vehicle in a company's line-up. The Titan suffered because it came out of a new plant and is also the first full size truck from Nissan.

Nissan makes very reliable cars. They are not garbage. We had a 2003 Altima gave us no problems. We still have a 2001 Altima and it didn't give us a problem till just recently the intake gasket split and we fixed. We have had many Nissans, and none of them caused any issues. Even my 04 Titan was reliable as hell till right before I got rid of it and it wanted to leak the AC on the carpet. LOL!
They definitely DO NOT have a ton of issues.

Facts = Our family has owned 13 Nissans since 1996. None of them have been unreliable. All of them have been problem free mostly.
If they had so many quality problems, then we wouldn't see so many old Nissans still on the road, or see many 1996+ Maximas with over 200k on the clock with virtually no problems.

I haven't looked at the data so I could be wrong but my experience says the engine/trannies of Nissans are great but some of the mechanical bodywork stuff is poor (poor moonroofs, windows, trim, noises, etc.).

I think what hurts Nissan is their design quality both inside and out. There engines are pretty good.

350z is an impressive little coupe. If I was in the market I'd take that over a Ford Mustang (yes I know different cars but about the same price).
