The current CTS has a chunky **** if you view it from this angle...

Hopefully the chunkyness has been reduced.

And as far as the current one goes - it's not the best value considering the features and performance you get for the $$ (talking about non CTS-V models).

If they can step up the new car and not go crazy with the price I think it'd do well. The most similar car that comes to mind is a G35, and it has way more bang for the buck IMHO.

Let me add, I think Caddy is doing better and better which each car and model. They really should be commended for getting this crap together. Their lineup is very solid and the V-line is very nice.

Once they get those interiors up a notch (Escalade and this CTS steps in the right direction) I think Lincoln, Acura, Infiniti and some other 2nd tier brands may get hurt.

Kudos to Caddy!

the stying is pretty good, but i personally prefer the STS styling over the CTS. Seems that the STS has a more "low and wide stance" that would be perfect for a nice RWD platform. The CTS IMO, is too compressed and upright, But nonetheless, an awesome engine/trans combo. If cadillac made a RWD STS-V, with a few less horses than the CTS, i'd be a great seller.

Nothing new there, bit.....the CTS always was a G35 competitior in the mid-sized RWD sports sedan field, , even with the AWD option. But the G35, of course, has been far more reliable, had a coupe version, and, like the original CTS, had a substandard interior and paint job. Now.....I agree with you......both interiors are better-done.

Despite the nicer-looking interior, Cadillac has got to get this car's engineering and quality control up. Not only Consumer Reports's reliability data, which places the CTS far below average, but the trouble-plagued models that have been long-term-tested by the auto mags as well attest to that. Up to now, I have not, in good conscience, have been able to recommend the CTS as a purchase, and I was not impressed, quality-wise, with the two I have test-driven either. I sat on a marketing focus panel for the original CTS several years back and thoroughly discussed this car with a number of other people.

Well team, my mother-in-law has had Cadillacs for about 20 years, trading one in after another every 3 to 4 years. Now she has an '04 CTS and she's decided she doesn't want another Cadillac! She had to take the CTS in a few times for recalls (nothing major but she hated having to take it in) and says she doesn't want to go through that again. I've tried to tell her a new one would have all those things addressed, but she wants to switch. Fine by me, I'll enjoy the 'shopping trip'. She said (unprompted from me) "I'd like a Toyota". I said "why?" and she said "I saw one on the road and it looked nice." Of course she doesn't even know what model she saw.

So I'm looking at this Supra for her.... LOL

Think twice before making fun of that grille. One of the few....and I do mean FEW.....really nice features on the CTS are their real wire-mesh polished METAL grilles; perhaps the best example being the one on the CTS-V. Most other vehicles today......even luxury and expensive ones.......use cheap molded plastic or vinyl parts for their grilles.

i think the older exterior looks better
or it could just be the crappy chop for that half photo

i love the interior though
looks like a proper luxury car now
i think GM knows what their shortcomings are and are fixing them pretty quickly

Ford on the other hand is still quite oblivious on many things

The STS is RWD and the STS-V has a lot more horses than the CTS or CTS-V.

The STS-V is a lot heavier though. Performance wise there about the same, but dollar wise...............not even close. This is my 04 V that took over daily driver duty after I sold my SC400. I will be seriously considering the 08 CTS-V if it gets the 500hp LS7 as rumored.
