You sir, have obviously NEVER driven a Supra TT before. It's turbos are small also and has a similar dual sequential setup for very quick spool up times. And who in their right mind would ever start a car from stop in 3rd gear?! In terms of the ride, a Supra is VERY comfortable for a daily driver (AMHIK since I had 2 of them) and much more of a GT car as it is an all around sports car. And in terms of cross shopping them? You bet your Bratwurst people cross shop them. Turbo sports cars are very much a rarity today, especially new ones. The comparison between the Supra TT and a 335i is due to its powertrain configurations again (I6 TT), whereas an Evo has 4 doors and is the quickest available new Japanese car available today. And yes, I cross shopped or am looking at all 3.
Now again, if you understand what an Xede does, it is only natural to compare it against a ECU Flash setup (like the Evo example I illustrated). I think folks here are so mindset on NA setups that numbers like the ones posted look so gawdy, but in truth they are just so-so. Anyhow, I may get a 535i in the coming year to really play with it myself and see how much one can extract from it....we'll see.

You are wrong from the beginning. The Supra has a sequential set up, but the 335i is not. On the 335i engine, each turbo is boosting 3 of the 6 cylinders. The Supra has more mid-range/high end power than the 335i, while the 335i has significantly less turbo lag than the Supra.
A Supra can be a comfortable daily driver before you modify the suspension to the more sporty side, while the 335i is a better all-rounder. Hey, we are talking about 12+ year of available technology and amenities out there.
The Supra will have a better chance to out run the 335i in straight line if both owners are given the same amount of money for mods, but it's going to take some work to turn the Supra into a back-road warrior.

I highly doubt too many people are cross-shopping between a supra and a bmw 335i. The 335i barely came out a few months ago.
Just because it doesn't gain as much power as an EVO or a supra doesn't mean it's worthless. In terms of absolute power, +57whp is very respectable. The Supra and EVO are tuned more for pure track experience where as the BMW is tuned for all-around driving.

Folks have to be mindful of the fact that the Supra market is very mature; with the 335 just released this first attempt is impressive and exactly what I predicted would occur some months back. By the end of '07 I have little doubt that a 400hp and 450hp kit will be released as 3 series owners are for the most part enthusiasts. This is the most exciting car BMW has released in over 10 years IMO and the aftermarket will kick in high gear with many go fast items in no time. If something happened to my SC430 this car would be at the top of my list on replacements.

Cause last I checked the Supra is faster, not to mention the 335i is an open deck aluminum block.

These are all wild guesses though.

The fact that you guys are comparing Supras and 335i's is a GIGANTIC win for BMW.

This thing is going to be a monster! I think it's gonna be the next major tuner car.. although the price tag is pretty hefty compared to cars like the Evo and STi. My only concern is, how is the engine and tranny gonna hold up to the increased boost and power? I'm not BMW bashing here... but just like with any stock turbo car, no one on that thread at the bimmer forum or even Shiv at Vishnu himself seems to be too sure of how overbuilt or not the car is.
I also wonder if BMW is gonna start hitting down really hard on wararanty voids like Mitsu and Subie have done. Mitsu had apparently even sent regional reps to drag strips to copy down VIN's of Evo's there... next time they came into the dealer for something, they were red flagged in the computer system and told their warranties are voided for tracking the car!
