Still prefer the Volta but I can totally rock that. Go ahead with it, Toyota!

The Volta concept looks WAY more appealing than this. The Volta looks more like an exotic car though, not like a ~$35K car, but this one does

Yeah, and the Volta managed to do 0-60 in 4 seconds with just the 268hp RX400h powertrain. This FT-HS must be a heck lot heavier to do 0-60 in 4 seconds with over 400hp.

Interesting that the FT-HS is using the same 3.5L 2GR-FSE as the 340hp GS450h but produces 400+hp. Must be some super powerful electric motors in there.

Wow, you're well versed with this...

I do agree that I like the Volta concept better. It had a cleaner sleeker look to it. However, I can imagine the FT-HS having 400+ hp if they used new hybrid technology such as that of the 3rd gen Prius that is rumored to have more efficient batteries. Only time will tell.

Can't wait to fall ZZzzzz in it with the exciting acceleration sound of battery motor from it's exhaust.
I wonder if you can get a microphone and amplify the exhaust sound through some interior/exterior speakers to make that part up

I like it! I think it will really help Toyota in the sports car class alot. I mean they have nothing now. 400+ HP for around 30k can't be beat.

HOLY POOP ON A STICK!!!! I love it!

And what's so unrealistic about the price being Mid $30's for a 400hp car... hybrid or not? The early reports on the next Supra have it being 400hp and in the mid $30's to compete directly with the 350Z. Maybe I missed something...

$30,000 for this kind of car? I guess even the steering wheel is an option

Man, such NEGATIVE people on this thread... I keep getting the idea of antiClubLexus nowadays...

you complain about Toyota not making a sports car of any sort; then when info is delivered about it; you totally bash it. For one, this is obviously a concept. Two, not everything has to look like a BMW 3-series or Audi to be appealing.

I like the car; you can see the idea someone is going for. The 2GR-FSE already makes outstanding power... use your brains. If Toyota shifts the torqueband even further up the scale with a near-stock GR, they can use an electric motor to make up for the loss of lower-end torque and have a very wide and powerful powerband.

400hp is most definitely doable for that price.... just because BMW can't do it, doesnt mean it can't be done Most of you do nothing but complain nowadays; its all I hear is people complaining about crap just for the sake of complaining. Its friggin Christmas Day so shut yer yap and be happy that MAYBE toyota might release this kind of car.

Not digging the front end or the intricate creases all over the car. No way it will come in at 30K. The rest of the car world would kill Toyota for doing something like that.
