I didn't want to start another thread, but here's a really cool writeup on the 335i, focusing on the tunability of the engine with some interview bits from Udo Lindner, pretty nice article.

Even if you don't agree with him you have to give him kudos for entertaining writing. LOL

Having come from an E46 330ci, I must agree that this new style completely sucks. Front the front all the way to the rear, just horrible. The rear is just plain ugly and while the engine is great and the power that it can deliver is awesome, I cannot appreciate the view from the outside at all.

The market seems to really like the new 3 series. This quote from a sales tracker.
December 2006 3 Series Sales
"3 Series sales of 13,164 units “took off” this month in response to the new 328 and 335 models as sales increased 24.3% over sales of last December. For the entire year of 2006 3 Series sales increased 12.4% over sales for all of 2005.
Mercedes-Benz sold 5,197 units of the C Class units this month, down a resounding 47.0% from the 9,806 units sold last December. YTD sales for the C Class were down 17.3% for all of 2006. MB needs to introduce the new C Class now.
Lexus sold 5,538 IS 250/350 units in December, up 22.6% from the 4,518 sold in December, 2005.
I have to say that the BMW 3 Series is the undisputed leader over the MB C Class and the Lexus IS 250/350 as BMW sold more 3’s than the Lexus IS and MB C Class combined."
A year from now will be a telling point as Toyota continues to make ground. It is unsure at this point if the IS will help them do it. The IS-F might give them a needed boost. But then again, the 3 series vert and M3 coupe, vert, and sedan will be out as well.

This is great for anyone living at high altitude. At my altitude, for example, a IS350 will be making 260 hp (-15%) due to the decrease in atmospheric pressure. The BMW won't be losing any power, due to the turbos. Can't beat that.

I do like this quote: "So what's under the 335i's hood? "We have two Mitsubishi turbos running at 0.6bar (8.8psi). These can boost to 0.8bar to compensate for altitude using the two electronically-controlled wastegates," Udo explained."

Coming from an ex E36 owner who also loves the looks of the E46, I absolutely love the E92. Seeing it in person makes me want the car even more. Even today my wife finally saw one in person and asked if that was the car as my wall paper on my computer. She loves that car as well. If I wasn't so set on trying to buy another NSX, a Monaco Blue E92 335i with Saddle Brown interior would be my next car.

Of course it is, but aside from the looks find me something he didn't like about the car. I realize the styling isn't for everyone, but he practically had a boner about the engine, steering, suspension, and brakes.
