Eau De Rubber: Kumho Rolls Out Scented Tires
The smell of burning rubber may be history now that Kumho Tire USA has developed tires in such yummy scents as lavender and jasmine.

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. — Get ready to burn some lavender.
In one of the stranger tech stories of the year, Kumho Tire USA says it has developed the world's first scented tire.
The tire is targeted at female buyers who drive such vehicles as the Chrysler Sebring, Ford Taurus, Honda Accord, Subaru Outback and Toyota Camry, the company said.
The punsters at Kumho say the aromatic tire is the "fruition" of more than a year's worth of research and development to deliver "an alluring aroma tire that replaces the normal 'black rubber' smell with heat-resistant oils in the scent of lavender, and in later versions, neroli [orange] and jasmine."
The lavender-smelling ESCTA DX tire will be sold through Discount Tire outlets and TireRack.com in three sizes and priced from $119-$138.
What this means to you: The possibilities are endless. We can't wait to burn chocolate.

Haha; I think you just thought up their first commercial. It'll be like the volkswagen ones where the cars get hit, but instead of talking about random stuff before the accident the passengers will be discussing the pleasant peanut butter aroma in the air.

Oh, BTW... EACH tire cost $1995...
Kumho's engineers must have inhaled tire smoke one too many times. We admit that tires spewing forth colored smoke from a burnout are kind of neat, but only if a set of the $1995 tires (that's $2K each!) is being melted on some other guy's car. But tires scented with the aromatic effusion of Lavender and Rosemary? C'mon. Eric has reported back that they smell like herbs that have been growing in a tire planter. Makes sense.

Wow to 2k eh 8k to smell pink smoke. Theres just some things that engineers shouldn't share with the public.
