The official score card is up:
http://www.wcoty.com/2007/results.asp
1st place: Lexus LS460: 682.5
2nd place: MINI: 673.8
3rd place: Audi TT: 670.6
Funny how the LS460 gets placed 2nd last in emotional appeal, better than only the Suzuki SX4, and then leads only in um, "merit".

BTW this is BMW's WCOTY ad for 2006..
Someone could make a modified ad for the LS 460 using this footage, then put it on Youtube...

For balance's sake here's the So Africa LS 460 ad highlighting the rockin' ML sound system:

Whole this "Diesels are now clean cars" campaign is started by European manufactures trying to push diesel as clean tech. They solely rely on CO2 emissions which are better than their petrol counterparts BUT what they are not telling you is that diesel emits mixture of other gases that also contain C02 and some other toxic elements. Those mixtures of gases do not exist in petrol cars.

Thank you!!! I'm getting so sick of the diesel zealots yapping about them being green.... about as tired as I am of global warming alarmists.
Diesel = better efficiency and gas mileage
Diesel != lower emissions....
Emissions make a car green, or the lack of them anyway

my mistake the latest production E320 Bluetec only meets Tier II Bin 8 (not Tier II Bin 5), it's not allowed in Cali or four other states which now require Tier II Bin 5.
by the time MB figures out how to meet Bin 5, Toyota will have already have Prius III on sale.
Diesels get good fuel economy, but calling them green is 100% false

Thanks to huu76 @ AutoSpies for digging out the following information.

Note it says that the technology can be new, not just the car. The 7 and E are not new cars for this MY.
One of the requirements is EPA of equal to or lower than 5.0L/100km or 47.6mpg US. Whether lower means better or worse, I can't tell. I would've assumed better (worse makes no sense for being green).

city = 26mpg hwy = 35mpg
http://www.toyota.com/camry/specs.html
city = 40mpg hwy = 38mpg
I thought maybe it was because of imperial gallons.
According to www.mercedes-benz.ca the E320Bluetec EPA is 6.1L/100km hwy and 9.0L/100km city.
The car doesn't even qualify. The Camry-hybrid atleast comes close.
Here's why it won though, based on Europe's hopes of icnreased diesel premiums in N.America.
http://www.wcoty.com/media/?release=31&year=2007
"Jurors felt that the Mercedes-Benz E320 Bluetec, which the company calls the world’s cleanest diesel, deserves the award for its role in enabling a diesel re-entry to the North American market,"
Not because Bluetec is the best, but because it allows diesels to be sold here again (where a superior alternative is already available).
And you wonder why I think WCOTY is stupid.

Well Lexus.com was pretty quick on this one, they've updated the LS page and Lexus main page.
The new tagline: "The LS has been called many great things. Most recently, World Car of the Year."
http://www.lexus.com/models/LS/
Glad they're publicising this!!! I remember the ads for Audi and BMW on this (and posted one)...hopefully Lexus can do that as well, but in their usual classy manner.
