i believe the V1 is the only detector out there that has 2 antennas, one for the front and one for the back.

I'm sure the 9500i didn't incorporate this feature just like they didn't incorporate directional arrows...cuz some people just don't like having 2 antennas

Why do people even buy a radar detector if it isn't a V1? If you are going to get a radar detector, GET A RADAR DETECTOR.

When another manufactuer steps up to the plate and offers arrows or something similar then we can start comparing radar detectors. V1 raised the bar years ago and why can't another company improve on the design?

I just wish V1 woudl update the look of their device to match their performance.

Someone needs to make a radar detector that you can plug into your computer and download all the GPS coordinates of red light cameras around the country into it, that would be nice.

Because some people like other detectors better. I used a V1 for years, I prefer the 8500. it happens.

I borrowed my friend's Passport 8500 during a trip to Vegas last year. It worked in many cases where I later saw highway patrol, but there are also many cases where the radar goes off, and I don't know there it was coming from. I had to slow down for no reason for a major part of my drive from Las Vegas back to Los Angeles. After that, I said to myself if I was getting a radar detector I would be getting V1 with the arrows. So if I know the signal is from the back, I can slowly creep up and speed away

But answer this for me, are radar detectors useful if the highway patrol cars don't turn on their radars? If a patrol car is just rolling on the freeway, would the radar detectors be able to pick them up? Or will I just be flying past them at 100mph without knowing in advance?
