Default What do you know about the Tourer V Mark II? Updated with pics

ALL you turbo guys/girls out there!!!!!! i found one here for a great deal but, i dont know much about them. i know it is a TT 2.5 auto . supposedly it is quicker than a similar equipped supra . it has a subtle body kit and BOV, intake. it is a 4 door and i like 4 doors. any input will be great. i miss the toyota/lexus i had but i really wanted more power and this has it. i think it is a 1JZ-GTE. damn i feel stupid for not knowing more.. thanks in advance

1JZ-GTE is a pretty potent motor when modified. It's .5L smaller than the 2JZ-GTE 3.0L but it has had a solid reputation. There are a good handful here stateside that have transplanted a 1JZ-GTE in their MarkIII MA70 chassis. even the Vertex Altezza shown below has a 1JZ transplant. I wish we had the Mark II Tourer V here stateside but Japan keeps all the goods there.

I have a 1jz in my sc..nice motor think of a rb26ish powerband. I believe that it is lighter than my sc as well, especially for a 4 door. A verossa is a more updated version. I would kill for one so I say do it!!

It has a 1JZ engine, 2.5 I6 twin (single with VVT from 96 up) turbo. They also came in manual, but I see you mentioned that you found an auto. They arent faster than the JZA80 supra, but chances are, depending on their weight (can't remember how much they weight) It may be marginally quicker than a JZA70 (though not very likely)

Supra parts fit. The 1JZ takes a lot of 2JZ parts/mods.

what info exactly are you looking for?

Just wondering is it the JZX90 or the JZX100?

My friend has a 95 Mark II Tourer V (JZX90) & it was very fast (I also got a good scare sitting in the front passenger seat!)!

This car surprised other grey-import/ Aussie V8 owners as they just assume that it's an ordinary Camry with a loud (Stock.) exhaust, until they see the taillights of it.

btw, his car was an Automatic.

Probably JZX90, cuz he said TT (twin turbo).

The JZX100 & 110 are newer and as such have the single turbo 1JZ (I stand to be corrected)

I almost bought a JZX100 Cresta Roulang G or something like that (the Chaser/MarkII Tourer V equivalent) back in 01 when i first moved to tokyo. and MT swap is easy if you want it since a stock 5MT was available. Its a really really common swap over here.

and no, supra parts WILL NOT fit. Some Supra/Soarer parts but not the X series chassis. its slower than a Supra, but it felt more agile than my Aristo V300.

Nice ride!

btw, One thing that I noticed on the 90 series Mark IIs is the front shield-like emblem. Some cars have it, while some cars don't.

Is the debadged grille a genuine Toyota accessory or was the emblem's base held on by double sided tape (And fell off/ swiped off.)?

The grille on my friend's Mark II (Pic below) didn't have it.

Neat car, I wish Toyota sold these puppies in the states. I must say that 1jz/auto is pretty responsive too.
