The Taurus is back! (Taurus, Taurus X, and Sable)
Perhaps someone should tell Ford that the Taurus developed a certain stigma about it and it was not good. I will admit I purchased a fully loaded one many years back. Loved the car for 2 months. Just about everything went sour after that. Drove several since then in our fleet, all junk. The 500 is no better and I won't get started on my 06 Fusion that has been in the shop 6 of the past 7 weeks-again-still there.
DETROIT — Ford Motor Co. (F) will rename its slow-selling Five Hundred model the Taurus, a name that Ford had previously used for a car that became the nation's top-seller, company officials said Tuesday.

The officials spoke to The Associated Press on the condition they not be identified by name because the official announcement had not yet been made.
The Taurus, considered by some the car that saved Ford, revolutionized the way autos look and feel when it was introduced in 1985. The Dearborn-based automaker ceased production of the Taurus in October after 21 years and sales of nearly 7 million, perplexing many industry analysts and former Ford executives who said the brand name had great value.

lol....oh, I have no great memories either, both my parents LX and SHO were turds, I rode in them more to the dealer than to baseball practice......
But, I do feel it will resonate with buyers more. Teh 500, IMO is superior to any Taurus.

I gotta give it up to Ford for the Taurus. Otherwise the Camry and other midsized sedans would have been smaller than what they are currently.

I guess Ford fired the person who came up with the idea of naming all of their cars to start with the letter "F".
Changing badges/names without any real changes will only confuse the market even further. How stupid do you think people really are?

Ford probably has the worst product planning of any company that I have seen in the last year. Zephyr is now MKZ, replacing 3.0L Duratech with the new 3.5 in some models that are only a few months old, now the 500 is the Taurus after just two years on the market, the new Focus is a disaster, horrendous front end on the new Navigator, dropping minivans because they can't build them worth anything, the GT turned out to be somewhat of a disaster with wheels breaking off and them advising owners NOT to drive their cars, dropping Aston Martin to raise capital, they're going to prostitute the Mustang name because it's one of two successful things they have ever done, and the list goes on.
As of now, the F series looks like the only successful or well thought out thing that they have done. I don't have any idea how Jaguar did so well with the XK, or how they will be able to get the XF off the ground with a parent company that seems so completely disheveled and unorganized. This type of shuffling looks really poor, IMO.

this should include to that show "What were they Thinking"
Overall they need to change their QUALITY!!! NOT the boss (which in future ford cars might have WINGS!), NOT the names of the products (which now will lead to some confusions to some people), NOT the factories (which people being workless), etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. AND etc.
