It's underpowered to the enthusiasts, but perfect for the consumer. At least it's faster than an LX470. Now that thing is sloooww. Heh.
The 3.0 will get its butt put on a plate by my RX300. Some other vehicles that supposedly quote faster times than my RX300: Acura MDX, Honda Pilot, Cayenne V6 have also been staring at my tail lights on the track.

I think that sometimes what 1/4 mile times are quoted are a far reality from what is the truth. To this day, I never buy the fact that Lexus quoted a 16.8 1/4 mile for the AWD RX300.

You must have a special RX - cause my old one was sloooowwwww... That 4 speed auto was the main issue. Our new MDX is much quicker.

What mileage are you getting on your MDX?

Not so good - I have not checked lately - I think 15/16. The RX did better - always close to 19/20.

Oh I remember how slow my little RX used to be. The high altitude up here was all the motivation I needed. That new MDX definitely has some pickup, just tested one over the weekend.

MDX is a very nice truck, much better than a 3.0 X5 and any RX.

Hmmm, well I certainly did not say that. It is faster than the RX and probably about the same as the X5. The new X5 is pretty sweet and to be honest, my wife preferred the RX to our 06 MDX (she LOVED that car). The new MDX however gives both vehicles a serious run for the money.

The thing is, on the streets, anything can happen. Magazine reviews generally have a much better controlled environment. For the X5 3.0L to keep up with the GX470 and other SUVs out there in similar acceleration test, we can assume it's does its job pretty well in every day driving where the driver isn't rompin' on the throttle. It's definitely not underpowered for the general buyers.

How could anyone like or better yet love the RX? I personally was disgusted with RX400h I test drove at the taste of lexus event.

108,000 people loved the RX in 2006. The car is the best selling luxury SUV. No other SUV comes close. The MDX sold around 75k....

You are entitled to your opinion, u just don't and may never like the RX. I didn't get the X5 until I drove it. Now I think its fantastic, though I may not agree 100% with the smallish utility side initially.

I did not like the RX400h either -that regenerative braking crap annoyed the you know what out of me.

Our old RX was a 2000 - it was nicer on the inside than the MDX and looked better on the outside as well. Her opinion of course (mine too). She likes the MDX, just doesn't love it.

She likes it - a lot. The front end bothers me a bit, but the rest of the car sure is sweet. Problem is we got a very nice deal on our 06 and the 07s are going for close to sticker, couple this with the fact that it is a first year car and we are probably going to wait. But if the dealer were to call with a sweet offer...

I love the interior of the new MDX, its on par with RL, but the exterior is ruined. Compared the the minivanish RX, I'd take an MDX over six RX, lol.

The interior of the MDX looks REALLY good (minus steering wheel)
