This one made me laugh so hard. BMW X5 story

I like the MDX interior and iPOD hookup but.
1. The wood is fake
2. The exterior looks like an old American Motors Javelin wagon
3. Gas hog. Geesh, 15MPG?
I prefer the RX400h with 25MPG real world any day. If I was ok with 15MPG, I would pick up a Lexus GX470 with a V8 and a real offroad capability.

It does look good indeed but I also find it overly techy looking. It really didn't have to have that busy/cluttered look though. I find the RX to be more elegant and cleanly laid out.
As far as the exterior goes I prefer the older MDX (not that i like the old one either) The new one looks too robotic and has that unfinished, overly busy concept look....which i do not like. I guess some people could like that busy, concept look though.

I also test drove both 3.0L and 4.8L also while my girlfriend was doing her car shopping.
I honestly think 3.0 is fine for most people. But for me, it's fine for normal day driving. But if you want to do some serious driving, the car is pretty slow. But X5 really impressed me in the handling dept. I drove both with sport package and it has adaptive suspension. No SUV on the market in that price range, I mean none, ( I can't say for Cayenne Turbo , cz I havent driven one) can even come close to X5. The car is just flat and it even felt a little weird swerving on the freeway. The car was just flat and it was so stable.
The only beef I have with the new X5 are the price. The 4.8i i drove had the sticker of 74K :O

I have a 04 3.0L X5 and it is more than enough power for what I use it for. I'm sure many owners of this vehicle feel the same way. Not everyone shares the same mentality as you of wanting/needing a V8 in every car. Why don't you compare the 220-hp 6cyl in the RX300s as well? That car weights just around 5,000 lbs as well. Both these cars sell so the companies must be doing something right. Maybe you should do this next time before trying to grill the salesman for no reason.

Sorry but his job is to SELL the car. He should have 2-3 responses. He could have even bulled...
1. Better fuel economy
2. BMW research showed this was adequate for the entry level car
3. Step your *** up and buy the V-8
I'm in sales and I HATE when there is a missed opportunity. Of course it is entirely possible there was not adequate training or he simply didn't read up.

My fav is the X5, but I would only want the V8 model and is is pushing $70k+
Having owned BMWs for several years I am not comfortable with a few things.
The run flat tires on the X5 (20") are $450 a piece and ride like crap plus it gets about 12mpg. There is no spare tire/jack. They are getting rid of the oil dipsticks. Also, for some reason the X5 no longer has a glovebox. WTF? I won't mention the crappy service. Most dealers will give you a loaner if you bought from them. Some don't care. Some give out Camry's or X3's. I have gotten treated better at a Lexus dealership when I was not even an owner.
The MDX is a gas hog with a 6 cyl engine. It weighs almost as much as an X5 with a V8. The exterior styling sucks and for an Acura, the wood should be real.
The RX is at a good price point with several drivetrain possiblities. I think it looks cool, and rides like a car which I like. The Hybrid is getting 25MPG overall which is great.
None of these vehicles are going offroad, so why pretend.
