The only problem with the V1 is that even in the big L mode, it beeps way too often in too many places and there is no radar around. Too many "false alerts."

Im about to get the 9500i but seeing how many of you guys get the V1 is making me think ahaha, can you start a poll? Its interesting that there is so many people choosing the V1 over the 9500, from what Ive read the 9500 has all the capabilities of the V1 and some. But I guess thats just my opinion.

There are plenty of polls already, and all the same opinions have already been expressed again here. The V1 is a favorite, but it does false a lot more. I've had 2 V1s and an 8500. I like the V1, but the falsing makes me miss the 8500 at times.

Perhaps you need to do a little more research before you make such a statement. Check this one out..........I can keep attaching more until you get the point. The V1 is a bulky, clunky looking unit that has remained pretty much unchanged since day one. Is it a good detector? Yep, the best? Doubt it.

what the hell are you babbling about? i never even once mentioned the aesthetics of the detector. the exterior of the detector hasn't changed but you can bet your *** the firmware has

besides if you're going to reference a report, why use such a broad source? one that actually knows what they are talking about is probably better, say http://www.radartest.com/

i think it's indirectly illegal in ca because it's not legal to have anything on your windshield.

radar detectors are legal except in virginia and d.c.

Thanks for your 'polite and professional reply' Using www.radartest.com as a guide...per your suggestion, did you happen to read the recommedations at the bottom....Passport....best value and best performer (other than Laser). I'm not suggesting by any means that the Valentine One is NOT a great detector and I've never used one. But I have used Escorts for years and have not (knock on wood) ever received a speeding ticket while using mine. All I need to know.

Again using your suggestion www.radartest.com I recommend reading this article and, if necessary, read it again especially about Car and Driver and Valentine using a ,very old, test in their very 'current ads' to support their claims.
Hey,thanks for sharing such an interesting web site...uschardcor

BEL STi Driver Radar/Laser Detector -$449

That is what I have and it is awesome. Check the reviews on it . Radar Roy gives it 5 stars. I had a Rocky Mountian Radar Jammer ( piece of crap that was a lie) but then switch to the STI and cant complain ....

Bell and Escort are owned by the same company...........I've used and owned both and have been happy with them. I happen to like the looks of the passport a little more....
