I like hatch/liftbacks...
But you're right the ti was ugly. I don't mind the C hatch too much but still could do better.

Default Mercedes-Benz C-class Sportcoupe Preview

Mercedes-Benz C-class Sportcoupe Preview

Posted on Thursday 7 June 2007

Mercedes-Benz is currently developing a new version of the C-Class Sportcoupe, a car that’s rumored to make its world debut at September’s Frankfurt Auto Show. Several prototypes were spotted undergoing cold weather testing in Sweden recently, which revealed that the new model will share the same basic shape as the outgoing version.

These latest renderings give a good indication as to what the car’s final styling will look like. Designers have followed the theme set by the new C-class sedan, with the upcoming Sportcoupe picking up a high-waistline, wedged profile, and a chiseled front end with angular headlights. Also, expect to see a tall tailgate with a short, squared off rear.

Like the current model, the new Sportcoupe range will feature several different four-cylinder variants but may include new V6 petrol and diesel versions as well. The range-topper will be powered by Mercedes’ 272hp 3.5L V6, but we wouldn’t be surprised if a brand new AMG version is released.

Late last year, reports surfaced that Mercedes would use its underutilized Juiz de Fora plant in Brazil to build the new Sportcoupe, and there was even talk that it could be based on the previous generation C-class platform. We’ll have to wait until September’s Frankfurt show to see how it all pans out.

A reason why I hate MB's sport models - their ugly prominent "star" emblem on the grille.

I don't care how big that star is, it's damn ugly.

Love the front end..especially that grille. The arches, I'm cool with. The rear does nothing for me. I don't see any improvement there.

Coming from MB forum though, most MB owners regarded the C coupe as the mutant red haired child it's almost kind of sad.

Yeah, that 1st gen egg-shaped car was hideous

The front doesn't look too bad with the amg package...but the rest

Why does this look so much like a 2 dr R-class?

What they fail to realize is that mating a fairly nice front end with an econobox kia rear, really does not work. Every time I see one of those cheap *** rear ends, I think what a shame.

I was talking to my very good friend at Mercedes yesterday and she said the car would look like the CLS in the front and sure enough it does.

She also said it would have SOME resembling lines from the side of the beloved W208 CLK, and I do see the lines in the top of the body work, whereas the last C class was a single flat line from front to back. I especially see resemblance around the mirrors.

I can't stand the egg, but it hints that the non egg version might look pretty hot in person.

We’ve already heard about the new C-Class Sportcoupe from our Insider, where he stated that it will be called the CLC and even described it in some detail. The Autobild guys have posted the most recent spy-shots of the still covered coupe being tested by the Mercedes engineers.

The one interesting thing that Autobild did state is that the front and back of the car will be fitted to look like the current C-Class, which of course will be a hard task for them, as it will be much shorter and the proportions won’t be the same.
