But back to the topic - the important thing to remember here is - neither car is a sports car. They are both relatively heavy pigs trying to be sporty, and not intended for hardcore drivers. If you want a true sports car, try an Elise or S2K. As far as 328 and G35, they are intended mostly for drivers that like to have a little fun behind the wheel, and G35 simply provides a lot more fun and then some. To me, saying that 328 is superior to G35 is simply ridiculous.
This I certainly can agree with. But, I'll add to say the G35 or even Camry is superior to the 328 is also ridiculous. One car or another will always be a better choice to someone else.

LOL, absolutely not. A fully loaded V6 Camry is superior to the 328 in a lot of ways, and IMO a better overall car.

OK, enough of the Camry in a G35 vs 338 thread, you have been reminded of that TWICE already above. Anymore post with CAMRY in it, this thread will be closed.

I don't think its wrong in saying the 328i offers a good comparo to the g35. Mind you I am a BMW owner. So try and understand if you pick up any bias coming form me.

My girlfriend owns a 325i Sport Pack. I drive a 335i Sport Package. The only difference aside of electronic gadgets, is the power. It handles the same, stops the same, ect.

C&D made it clear that the G35 was faster. It obviously gives a lot more for your money, but the test wasn;t about what is a better value, I THINK. lol. It was about the cars performace wise. The 328i can have all the gadgets a G35 has, only it will cost the 3 series owner more...

A Mazda Miata is dead slow compared to a G35, but it'll slaughter the g35 on a track. Does that make the car inferior performace wise?

Again, I am a BMW owner, have owned a Mini Cooper, 330i, X5 4.8is, and now a 335i. Of course I am going to be a little biased...

The G35 is a great machine.. The new coupe will be in high demand with the updated sheet metal Infiniti drives well but is still a bit off when it comes to driving dynamics. Bmw will continue to be the enthusiasts choice because of its driving dynamics compared to the competition. You get behind the wheel of any BMW vehicle, and you are one with the road. The car is an extension of you, rather than you being an extension of the car. BMW has an amazing formula that has been replicated but can never be duplicated.

I didn't see any biased comments in your post at all and I completely agree with you........and I am G35 owner. I think C&D comparing the 328i to the G35 is more accurate than comparing the 335i to the G35. Now, there will be many people still cross shopping between the G and the 335i, but price really has to play a role when comparing two vehicles. You are not going to compare a Miata to a Boxter just because they are two seater convertibles, right?

As a G35 owner, it would of been nice to see the G come out on top in this comparo......BUT, I can understand why it didn't. Many owners of the new G equipped with the 6MT have noticed a fair amount of vibration in the shifter. Maybe if C&D tested the 5AT the outcome may have been different.....who knows. But then you still have the BMW with better weight distribution as well.

At the end of the day, you buy a car that YOU think is the best for YOU, not what C&D chooses.

It also depends on the track. I can believe a Miata will be better in an autocross but on a track like Buttonwillow, I would think the G35 would pretty much run away easily.

I don't think the test was unfair though since C&D loves how a car handles and in terms of handling, BMW is king. In R&T, the IS350 beat the G35 in a direct comparison but in C&D, the G35 is one of the "10 Best" while the IS350 is nowhere in sight. Different mags have different biases and at least C&D is reasonably consistent with their rankings.

These car mags always pick the BMW even if they nearly kill themselves. "well the BMW just cut off in the middle of the expressway about got smashed by an 18 wheeler while the G35 and The IS 350 blew by me but since the 18 wheeler seen the hazrd lights flashing we will pick the BMW 328i"

Real driving enthusiasts buys a real drivers car like S2K,EVO,CAYMAN,350Z etc. Only Ricers buy BMW. Their slogan should be change to "The ultimate Rice machine" or "The ultimate compramised machine". This "magic" people keep talking about is "compromise". BMW compromises better than anyone else, so anyone with half a brain should never fool themselves into thinking BMWs are some kind of superior driving machine. BMWs are basically heavyass luxury vehicles with some minor sport thrown in.
