Jaguar XJ facelift revealed
Wednesday 28 February 2007
Jaguar has updated its conservatively-styled XJ saloon to inject some much needed excitement to the model range and help boost lagging sales of the big cat. For the update, designers revised the front end styling by adding a new grille with a more pronounced badge. Sitting below this is a more aggressive gaping mouth bumper with round fog lights positioned at either side.
These images also reveal reworked side vents similar to those on the XK coupe, a new rear bumper and subtle boot lid spoiler, plus new side-indicators integrated into the side-view mirrors. Rear legroom has been increased thanks to the installation of thinner front seats, which now come with heaters as standard. Several new trim options have been added to the catalog, with more traditional wood finishes as well as an all-alloy alternative.
Coinciding with the release of the 2008 model year XJ is a slight price increase, with the XJ now starting at £43,540 for the 3.0L gasoline version and topping out at £60,150 for the range topping XJR.

The design team for the XJ should be fired. Common Jaguar, who's in charge?
There are way too many cars to chose from in that price segment. You can rely on a badge to sell your cars.

The engineering and the quality of the Jag is without question but whoever did the customer clinics and came back with the opinion, gleaned from existing owners, that the design didn't need a radical change of direction should be shot.

I remember when they went square back in 1989, then had to change back to the original styles. They really need to sit down with current and past customers and figure out what is wrong.

As baddis_es mentioned, the front bumper does look very much so like the E46 M3... Nonetheless, I still find this car to be very elegent... I wasn't a verg big fan of them before, but after the 04' facelift... i began to like them. This new design is starting to appeal to me even more.
I also like the metal piller/beams on the sides of the car under the mirrors... gives it a nice touch. I suppose they got that idea from the Range Rover...

New X-Type? They're getting rid of that car. You mean the X-CF or whatever it's called? That's the new S-Type replacement.
