too many other good cars imo.
in the us market i cant see how theyll sell a lot (seeing as how important hp is over here), but it looks like they dont plan on it and are making it a pretty exclusive car.

having said that, id rather an aston or lf-a first... but the more competition the better

Base price $109k and $118k for the auto? So it will likely be over $120k with options, as the B & O sound system alone is a $6800 option on the S8.

I was expecting Audi to release the V10 at about that price, and the V8 in the 90's. Even the S8 with the V10 stickers at $92k.

Used Gallardos are hitting $130k right now. I couldn't justify paying the same amount for a V8 Audi.

I was hoping the same thing. $118K+ is on the high side. I wish it stayed right around the 90K-$100K range right where the NSX left off. Still looks to be a great car though. Price aside I wouldn't mind owning one.

Come on guys. For cars at that price range, do you really think the potential buyers will do serious cross-shopping? They can probably buy an R8 and also other cars on the same day if they are in the mood!

For the "overprice" comment, the market will determine. And by looking at the preorder wait list, its definitely not overprice at all.

many may buy on whim, but many do not.

even on cars that cost $300k+, there are people who will cross-shop, read reviews, etc to find the car that best gives them what they're after.

in short, not unlike what people in the $30k+ range do.

then again there are those who will buy on whim/looks/etc. but they do that in the $30k segment too.

If this was the LF-A nobody here would be complaining about the price.

maybe im just young or something, but i would much rather have a GTR instead. R8 is nice and everything, but knowing the type of people who will buy it, itll mostly be blue-hairs or middleaged men who have no interest in using this cars full potential. chick magnet in other words...but then again i wouldnt go for a chick who is into me for what kind of car i drive.

Excellent point and I'd probably agree with you. Problem is, the LF-A is a sexy monster with Lexus track record of reliability. I am one of those who thought it would weigh in under $100K. But yeah the R8 is to be respected at any price. Give me both and a case of Twizzlers and I'm a happy man!!
