Interier Insulation
Does anyone know what Lexus uses to insulate the interiors? Materials/brands? I'm planning to do some heat insulation around the tranny tunnel and will probably go with a couple of products from SecondSkin, but I'm wondering what Lexus used to begin with.
Thanks,
Jon

I don't know about Lexus specifically but other than the asphalt-based stick-on deadeners, one material that absorbs sound very well and doesn't weigh much is closed cell foam. The biggest problem is getting it to stick well.

x2 on the closed cell foam. Raammat sells them. They're inexpensive and they work. No need to worry about moisture buildup or anything like they. They reduce road noise and will help prevent rattles (depending on where you use it). I used 3m spray adhesive and it works good, but the foam is best when it's sandwiched between two layers of material (ie floor of the car and the carpet).
On vertical surfaces, you're only solution that's cheap is the spray adhesive, unless you find some type of glue that sticks forever. heh.
