I should've had worded better. I meant to say the msot prestigious mainstream luxury brand. not including filthy rich luxury brand like rolls or Maybach.

In korea, MB is a top dawg, and BMW is the 2nd fiddle.

anyway, for some strange reason Benz has much much more 'gangster' appeal for rappers/athletes and such. You rarely see BMW in a music video. even Shaq said he is MB v12 and not a wimpy BMW.

Shaq may need to stop counting his money and open his eyes a little. BMW also does V12's......the 760L. And its twin-turbo, 544 HP is anything but wimpy.

Rappers and athletes also seem to like the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator in droves.

That's old news, almost all have since moved on to different whips.

Not as old as you might think. The lure of big SUVs with a lot of bling is still there for athletes and entertainers. It's true, though, that have added a few competitors to the traditional Escalade and Navigator, such as the Mercedes GL and Lexus LX570.

We can tell you never watch rap videos.

But agreed, large black SUV's are standard forms of transportation for mundance transportation, even if other brands have since become more popular.

I've seen my share of them, but, you're right, I'm not a big rap fan. Of the ones I've seen, I generally like Tone Loc and the Beastie Boys the best. The Gangsta Rap, IMO, is trash.

In this area, the Pearl White is also popular on the big SUVs. And, yes, chrome.

The 2010 S4 has a 40:60 front/rear bias, and with the active rear differential, drives phenomenally. It really is better than the 335i in every way except maybe price.

P.S. Just realized this was a 2 year old post. =(

Yes but that turbo 4 makes gobs of torque low in the RPM band.

A few hundred dollars only improves the situation as well, and is [currently] undetectable by dealers.

I've driven the 335i. IMO, for the money (45K +/-), it is the best sports-sedan on the market, but, not having driven the new 2010 S4 (I did review the 2009 S4 last year), for the moment, I'll take your word for it.

Still, even taking your word for it, to beat the 335, the new S4 going to have some BIG shoes to fill.

Even the old S4, though, had excellent trim and fit/finish that the 335 couldn't match.....that was one area where it did trump the 335. But the 335's drivetrain, steering, brakes, and chassis are almost pure magic.

There isn't a sexier car on the road for $40,000 than the A5.

Decided to bump this...almost 3 years later and Audi has just continued its onslaught of not just products but better public perception. My wife loves Audi. When I talk to enthusiasts and non enthusiasts alike, Audi is always mentioned. Audi continues to be hot, hot, hot.

Now I do think Mercedes is my 2nd fav luxury brand behind Lexus today (though Porsche could quality the way its going as a luxury brand) but I continue to be super impressed with what Audi has done the last few years.

What an amazing turnaround here in the states!

The LED's and fluidic design have done well for them. Well that and matching toe to toe models

Love the A6 and A5 and of course the S models in both.
The A4 and A8 not so much.
