98 Honda Accord A/C never works...
I purchased a used '98 Honda Accord Coupe a year ago and the A/C never worked. One time, I had a homeboy fill it up with refrigerant and the A/c was still blowing hot air.
Last summer, I had the dealer checked the A/c and they said there was a leak and I had to replace compressor and accumulator. Due to financial problems at the time, I purchased a "used" oem compressor and a "new" aftermarket accumulator from Ebay and had this local shop installed it and filled it up with refrigerant. The total was a little less than half of what the dealer quoted me.
Well, when I went to pick up the car, the A/c work great. Until after about 30days when the warranty expired, it stopped blowing cold air. Its hot here in Central Cali and I wanted to be ready for the summer. I noticed when I park in the shade the A/c barely blows "cool " air, but most of the time when its parked outside, the A/c blows hot air. I use to think that since the car is black, this would be the problem.
So what should I do, get it repair @ the dealer and pay the price? Is it worth paying about $1000 just to get the A/C fixed?

since you have already replaced the compressor and accumulator and it was working for a month, then stop working but still blowing "cool" air.. You have to have a certain amount of refrigerant in the system for the comp to kick in. My guess is that you have a leak in the system. Have the shop do a vacuum test to find where the leak is.. it could be a cheap fix. good luck!

Is your car the V6 or I4?
If the compressor is at fault, buy yourself a new OEM compressor straight from the dealer. Have another shop install it. It's the labor rate that makes the dealer more expensive. There are lots of honda shops in CA. Perhaps it's the AC condensor? I would go to at least two different Honda shops to diagnose the problem before spending a chunk of money on your car.
On the side note, my mom's Toyota Camry just had its AC sytem fixed. It was blowing cold air when we bought the car and then suddenly it felt like we were blowing outside heat into the car. We took it to a shop and the problem was a clogged AC line.
The point is, the problem can be anywhere in the AC system. Have the system throughouly checked out.

You probably still have a leak in the system. Get it fixed one way or another. I also believe running the compressor with no refrigerant will destroy it so don't run it!
