Really dig this car, and may test drive in the next several days. What are your opinions? I have owned my GS for over 4 years now, but may need a change. Still not sure yet though.

Well I don't think you can compare the s type 3.0 or even the x type to the s-type R. I really like this car becaue what is holds both luxury and crazy performance. Stock 4.2L V8 Eaton Supercharged engine with 390 HP, and almost 400 LBS of torque.
I'm just wondering if anyone knew of a friend of family member who actually has owned or currently owns the "R" version, not the x-type or s-type 3.0.

I don't know if you're joking or not, but the X-Type is the Jag that's based on a Ford, and that's based on the European Mondeo, not the Taurus. The S-Type shares a platform with the Lincoln LS and Ford Thunderbird. Calling an S-Type a Taurus is as inaccurate as calling the GS a Camry

The comments above although not helpful and possibly inaccurate, were worth a laugh.
According to: http://autos.yahoo.com/jaguar_s_type...ter_r-ratings/
the 2003 is above average in reliability. Reviews on this car usually say it falls short of it's goal, which was running with the M5. However, after a few years the MSRPs diverge that you would no longer compare them dollar for dollar. You're getting great bang for your buck assuming you get one that's reliable.

I've never driven an S-Type R, but most of the comparisons i've read pretty much conclude that the E55 and M5 are much more capable sport sedans and that the S-Type R is kinda mushy. The suspension isn't that much sportier than the lower priced S-Type 4.0 Sport.
However, if thats what floats your boat then thats what floats your boat!

Each car has their respected pro's/con's. but I'm sorry, the E55 and M5 are not for me, and I will only use the Road & Track, Car and Driver as guidelines, not as a hard and fast rule. If I still like the vehicle after the test drive, I would need to focus on long term reliabilty.
Seeing that I drive about 20-25K per year, I'm not so sure how the Eaton Supercharger will hold up. I'm not 100% sure I want to end up with a supercharged Jag with 100K+ miles.
This Jag is going for $25,995.00
Also some addn'l seller comments. Seller's Comments
4.2-liter V8 with an Eaton supercharger, intercooler, Brembo disc brakes, 18-in. five-spoke wheels, dynamic stability control, computer active technology suspension, navigation, xenon headlamps, 16-way power front seats, and 320-watt Alpine stereo with six CD changer. Horsepower is 390, with 0-60 mph in a claimed 5.3 seconds, and a top speed electronically limited to 155 mph
Interior Pic of the Jag(Which Is important).

Another Pic. I'm not a big fan of the rear of the Jag.
