The video posted sees the TL-S lap in 1:32.88. The car is a stick and he drives with the VSA off.
That's quite a difference from the times posted in the article above. Different conditions can be assumed, but I'm tempted to think this comparo was with automatics based on the almost 4 second difference.
I'm impressed with the TL-S, but this is a different beast than the normal TL. The engine is a detuned RL 3.5 L, and not the 3.2 L that 98% of TL owners have. I don't have a problem with that at all, but it's worth pointing out. Much like the difference between Integra Type-R and GSRs is.
My point. The TL and TL-S are fantastic and I'm not even debating it being first. What I am saying is, the TL-S is the "hotrod" TL vs standard IS and G35 models. That was all.

Looks like the TL did exceptionally well considering that the Horsepower difference between the the TL-S is significatly lower than the IS 350... For the $$$ the TL-S package would probably win over my decision in picking a vehicle.. But i haven't driven any of those cars so i can't really determine what would be better.

Well then KUDOS to Acura for offering a stick with the TL-S and SHAME on Lexus for only offering an auto with the IS 350. Its a contest and I'm not going to tell Kobe Bryant to wear Via Spiga shoes on the basketball court to make things "fair" for the Atlanta Hawks.

With all do respect, I am confident a standard TL would smoke a standard IS. If all cars were standard, the results would probably be more like G>TL>IS.

A standard TL vs a standard IS 350? I have to disagree . TL would smoke a IS 250 though, stick or auto.

The outcome certainly shocked me.
I would have expected the:
G35 Sport to be 1st because of its well balanced performance and IS350 to be second because of its quick acceleration.
To be quiet honest, I never really paid attention to the TL-S, so I really won't judge it as of now.
Interesting results. I expected a good battle between the IS and G, but not from the TL

The IS350 would currently be considered the 'hot-rod' model in my opinion. It has over 100hp more than the standard IS, over 90lb/ft of more torque, a better final-drive ratio and a much better breaking system. The difference in power between the standard TL and TL-S is less than 30hp and 25lb/ft of torque. Though I see what you are trying to say by 'standard' IS350, the 350 is by no means standard in anyway.

The IS350 may be the quickest of the bunch on the quarter mile, but it edges out the G35 and TL-S by just a few car lengths. Since the cars were thrown on a track, all that magazine stuff goes out the window. Where the IS350 is quicker on the straight, the TL makes up for it on the turns. It just happens that the track had more turns than straight-aways
I am definitely shocked at the result. I think the majority of us would expect the G35 to be in first, then the IS350, and finally the TL-S. Goes to show that FWD isn't always inferior to RWD. Same track, same driver, same day, around the same time...seems like the best way to test cars without inducing too many variables.

To me, it would be TL-S vs the last gen L-tuned IS 300. Both cars only offer one engine and the S and Tuned are the "sport" models of each version.
Either way, not really making excuses at all, the TL-S won fair.
