I had the chance to meet with what is GM China last year, you have to put Buick in Context to understand what is going on.
Buick is a Status symbol in China similar to that of Mercedes here in the US. They had an Emperor that drove a buick and so that was where the prestige originated from.

I dunno. My friend from China said that the only things that the cars here and there share is the name.
He said he saw the A6 and 5 series and the quality of the interior over there is much lower than the material used on our A6s and 5ers. i.e. you're just paying for the name cause it's obvious they've reduced quality thinking they won't know the difference since they probably never owned a car in their life.
