Smile IS350 v. 335ci v. mustang GT v. STi v. Evo v. Z v. G35C

here's a scenario...if all the above mentioned autos were line up at a light and race for 1 mile. let say all these are 2007 models all stock autos with regular drivers in good condition and stock tires.

let's discuss who would reach

a) 1/4 miles first, 2nd, 3rd, etc..
b) who would pull away after reaching 100mph+
c) who would reach the 1mile line first, 2nd, 3rd, etc.

this is just for fun.

I would think the STi and Evo would get the jump on the other cars off the line because of AWD. I would expect the 335i to have the highest top end out of all those (assuming it doesn't have a top speed governor). It would probably be a race between the STi, Evo and the 335i, the other 4 cars aren't quite in the same level of performance from what I've read. I could be wrong though

unless these autos are actually line up and race to a mile mark, the rest is just talk and talk is cheap. .

I think at the end it would look like this:
1)335ci
2)Evo
3)STi
4)Mustang GT
5)Z
6)IS350
7)G35C

I'm probably way off, but it's OK because my car can destroy all 7 of them

According to that other thread, the TL-S would smoke them all!

Yes.....and speeding tickets AREN'T.

Having said that, though, I have driven most of these cars, though not to their limits, and in my limited opinion: the Evo and STi would get the jump off the line, the intermediate stretch would be more or less a horse race, and the IS350 would hit the highest top speed.

I'm interested to know why you think the IS350 would have a higher top speed than the 335i? I'm not trying to argue, I'm just wondering what your thought process is? I really have no idea but I'm guessing the 335 would make more power at the top end

on a) my IS 350 has beat 4.6 and 5.0 gt's, old and new at the drag strip by .5 to .75 seconds . Everything else I don't know, but I think the 335 will win b) and c) . I also think IS 350's will take out the Z and unless you increase boost from stock I think were pretty even with the other 2 turbo carson a,b, and c.

I didn't say racing on the public road. I meant for these cars to be done by the professional on the track.

hp = speed.
Which ever car has the highest hp has the highest top speed. IS has more hp than 335 so it makes sense that it would have higher top speed. Top end 335 makes 300, IS makes 306 so it will have higher top speed.

Some dude just ran 13.35 in the 1/4th on a stock Z with the new HR engine (2007) Z. I think the 350z is only 3200-3300 lbs with 306 hp. 350Z = 335i > IS350.

07Z
335i
IS350
Evo IXMR
Mustang GT
STi
07Gc

thats my guess. assuming theyre all delimited.

none of the cars have more whp and less weight than the vq35hr based Z afaik
the 335i matches it but has more weight
the is350 is rwd and has as much whp as any of the other cars below it. although the evo and sti may weigh less the is350 isnt far off of the other cars in 1/4mi ...i think the rwd would make up for it on top.

i would imagine that at higher speeds the awd cars have a disadvantage but they do have good whp regardless. i dont know if a stock g35c could run down a stock sti over a mile. i am also unsure on the mustang. but those are all my guesses.

There are an incredible number of variables influencing top speed. Gearing and drag coefficient alone are more than enough to make up for a tiny 6hp difference. Not to mention weight... If these cars are unrestricted, I'm sure the top speed numbers are out there, I would be interested to see them

Where did you see this? Just out of curiosity. And I am also assuming that it was not an auto...?

My favorite "racer" quote, "horsepower sells cars, torque wins races." To contradict myself, I didn't know about the higher hp and lower weight of the '07 Z. Top speed of an IS350 with the limiter ,142mph. Suppossed to be 165mph w/o the limiter. All German cars are supposed to have a limiter set at 155 mph.
