2009 Mazda6 Spied (update pg. 2)

holy crap, it looks huge! it seems like it's almost the size of the Camry.
The rear looks like it has taken on the CX-9 taillights. Looks good to me!
I wonder if they'll keep the wagon and hatch. It's the only car to offer such a range of bodystyles. Kudos to Mazda.

Besides driving dynamics, one of the reasons I like the current Mazda6 is that it didn't get too big like the Accord & Camry, but they need to make the next Mazda6 bigger to become more popular in the American market, Americans in general like bigger cars ...

I've sat in the current 6 several times. It's fits me, just. I'm fairly comfortable but it's definitely on the "small" side of midsize. But then again, the Camry is on the "large" side of midsize lol. I think the Accord is in the middle of the two, isn't it? We're talking interior space that is.

It’s been a while since we last checked on the next-generation Mazda6, and from these spy shots, it appears that the sedan is growing markedly, and nearly production-ready.
Mazda’s bread-and-butter sedan picks up a decidedly Nissan Altima-esque exterior (no bad thing), and it’s expected to ride on an amended version of the CD3 platform known as CD3-2. According to Brenda Priddy & Co., the platform will be shared with the forbidden-fruit Ford Mondeo.
Expected later this year as a 2008 model, both four- and six-cylinder powerplants (the latter appears to be what is depicted in these shots) should be made available, as well as front- and all-wheel drive variants. Mazdaspeed and hybrid variants are also in the cards, reports Priddy.
Us? We just dig the hip new spy cladding (“Now in fashion colors and patterns!”) that Mazda’s engineers are employing on these prototypes.
